Only 1 PG averages 7 more assist than Beverley. As for a singular role, Beverley would start for Miami and Indiana over Lin. Most "normal" teams that are good would have both of these guys come off the bench.
Today's 'Point Guard' is yesterday's 'Lead Guard', perhaps most identified with the magnificent Knixies backcourt of Walt 'Clyde' Frazier and Earl 'The Pearl' Monroe, a/k/a 'Black Jesus'.
I had Synergy for a while in the past, not so much now. I just wasn't using it enough though the video play by play is something I miss. Seeing 3 for free just isn't the same if you know what I mean. Lately I've been delving more into the public SportsVu and Vantage data. Vantage looks promising (their work on screen data is really interesting), I'm just hesitant to think about committing any real money as neither SportsVu or Vantage are cheap as they're really only doing professional Scout packages and such. Hoping they roll out some more fan friendly data packages. I love basketball, but I'm only willing to throw so much at it.
Money is not a problem here. I have found no way to subscribe for more SportsVU data. Do you have a link. I may have retired early, but there are just so many hours in a day to analyze data.
http://www.stats.com/stats_pass.asp You have to contact them by e-mail, then talk about the information package you want. Last I heard it's not cheap.
Bev will have no contract available to him other than the vet minimum if he leaves the Rockets for any reason. Lin is in line to earn $7M+ a year. He certainly could be a top 10 point guard in the NBA on the right team. He has shown many many flashes of offensive brilliance in his short NBA career.
During the last few minutes of a close game: 1.Who do I trust to make a wide open 3pt shot to win the game? PB 2. Who do I trust to shut down a opposing PG or make a key defensive play? PB 3. Who do I turst to not turn over the ball on a bad pass? PB 4. Who do I turst to make a layup? Lin. 5. Who do I turst to handle a press? PB
In an era with advanced statistics becoming more valued and with a number of front offices embracing the stat geeks? Beverley could definitely be making more than Lin on their next contracts.
Dont know why people are arguing the Bev Lin thing again. Been argued to death elsewhere already and it isnt even the most interesting thing, or the second most, Morey said today.
morey said on 610 this morning that in order for the rockets to win the title this year, the rockets will have to be playing their best basketball of the season and get help like the other teams not being healthy.
Wow, surprised to see one of the most cultured threads in the GARM turned into another Lin vs Bev debate..... For the record, Bev is a much better fit thereby making him a much better player for the Rockets. On other teams, it is probably a wash with a slight edge to Bev because he can do several things. If Lin can't score, he is pretty much worthless. Contracts considered, Bev blows Lin away for every single team.
This whole thing is a semantics argument. No, Portland is not better at home than their overall record indicates. However, they are a really good team at home.
I'm the opposite. Lin has shot far better in "clutch" situations all season. And it's not even remotely close. Go down to the "clutch" section. In "clutch" situations Beverley's eFG% is 36.4%. Even if you assume that it's 100% 3 pointers, that's still only 24.26% on 23 FGA. Compare that to Lin's shooting in "clutch" situations -- eFG% 54.4% on 34 FGA. http://www.82games.com/1314/13HOU3.HTM http://www.82games.com/1314/13HOU4.HTM Now, if you need a defensive stop on opposing PG, maybe. To put points on the board? I'll take Lin. Hands down.
