Overall, this Wrestlemania event is both not bad and not great. Bryan's victory is overshadowed by Undertaker's defeat. That's what people will be talking about more on Brock-Taker than the triple threat championship main event. The only negative part is the Divas match. It was very disappointing. Hopefully, there will be a future feud between A.J. and Paige.
Him losing doesn't surprise me, I always expected him to drop one before he finished. But to Lesnar, really? If it had been a young guy OK, but losing to Lesnar serves no real purpose, and was obviously anticlimactic because nobody thought he had any chance of losing this one. Why not lose to Punk last year. Between this and Batista, I would be pretty pissed off too. When then company gives away massive opportunities to part-timers, and then has the nerve to wonder why non of their current guys ascend to star status. Otherwise pretty good PPV, not spectacular, but certainly better than that snoozefest last year.
Wrestlemania xxxi next year in Northern California. Start writing the show. Cesaro vs Bryan Roman reigns vs ??? Bray Wyatt vs ???
I don't mind Taker losing to Lesnar as I think Lesnar is one of the best in the ring and he has the best promo man in the business as his mouthpiece who can sell anything. I did think they'd use Takers streak ending on a younger guy (Reigns, Cesaro) but it is what it is.
At least everybody that bought the network can say they got their money's worth... A great Wrestlemania!
Of course the divas match was the worst, but it was actually watchable to me. Pretty sure there was a wardrobe malfunction too.
Don't mind Lesnar winning. I did at first, but in character it makes sense. Out of character everyone wants Taker to give the rub to an up and comer, but in character it's pretty hard to imagine actually happening. And, probably most importantly... I guarantee Taker asked for this specifically himself, and they agreed. For one thing, you don't tell Taker he can't go out on his own terms. Secondly, for the first Wrestlemania on the WWE Network, nothing could have delivered more in terms of shock value. Coupled with the send-the-fans-home-happy conclusion, it was a grand slam for the company. On a side note, the Divas match served one and only one purpose: to give the fans a chance to breathe and recover after the Taker finish in preparation for the triple threat main. Bottom line to me -- this show delivered in a way Mania hasn't delivered in a long time. Bryan/HHH was fantastic. The Battle Royal was boring for most of it but was great at the end, and Cesaro (after turning face in the pre-show) was the perfect choice to win and he got a huge Wrestlemania moment with that scoop and CARRY of the Big Show for the elimination. That guy is crazy strong. Shield vs. Kane and the Outlaws was just there -- but if that match was to happen, it's good it was a squash. The Shield was wasted in this match, but at least they dominated and looked like stars. Bray Wyatt was absolutely legendary in his match with Cena. I don't mind Cena winning considering the story they were telling. Wyatt is the best character in the fed, hands down. He just owns his gimmick like nobody else. Leading the fans in "He's Got the Whole World In His Hands" was both funny and disturbing. Perfect. Lesnar/Taker was a plodding match. Taker looked REALLY old and slow. The finish, of course, made everyone forget about the quality of the match. No one will forget this one. The Main Event was very very good. Orton and Batista did about the best I've ever seen them do from a work standpoint and Daniel Bryan was as good as he ever is. Props to HHH for eating **** not once, but twice last night, taking a CLEAN pin in the opener, then taking the sledgehammer shot in the main. Orton not being beat for the belt will be his story coming out of Mania, I'm betting. I think it was one of the top five Manias ever. X-7 is still the best all time, but there are few others I can think of that were better.
The divas match had no chance of being decent, even if it was men, a 13 person single fall match is sure to be a clusterf**k, much less with the women. I'm still don't like the whole booking of the Lesnar/Taker feud. Lesnar was booked to look scared and week through most of the feud, not beastlike, which is what they should have done if he was gonna win. I'm guessing since Heyman has been hinting at the title, the Lesnar/ Bryan feud does seem likely eventually. Batista is almost guaranteed to have the belt at summerslam. Guardians of the galaxy comes out during the build-up, so I'm sure they'll put the strap on him in the preceding PPV, which I'm OK with. Now that the company has put the belt on Bryan, I think a lot of the heat will come off Batista and the company can start to book him better.
I was in shock when The Undertaker lost. Of all people I didn't expect Brock Lesnar to do it either. I was half hoping that WWE would do an instant replay and show that his shoulders weren't down and reverse the decision, keeping the streak intact. As much as I enjoyed Daniel Bryan winning, Undertaker's loss really took my energy away.
I enjoyed Wrestlemania. Enjoyed the Historic Rock/Austin/Hogan moment and was surprised they made Bryan/HHH the opener but it was a good idea looking back at it now. WOW on the Taker/Brock shocker. Caught everyone off guard. WWE gets so much crap about the booking being predictable so sure should shut folks up. The finish of the match could've been executed with more drama but all that matters is the 1-2-3 and the reaction of the crowd. Man that really took them out of the show. Glad they got excited again for the Bryan win. So: What happens at RAW? People always say the RAW after Mania is usually better than Mania itself because they will lay out surprises for the coming year. -I think it's certain that BROCK targets Bryan now as his first true challenge as champion. All they have to do is get Orton's rematch clause out the way which I'm guessing they'll do tonight. Bryan wins, Brock comes out afterwards and makes his intentions felt. Brock/Bryan Extreme Rules. -RVD is slated to make a return soon as well. -I wonder if Taker will make an appearance to address his future.
Favorite irony: Fans complain that a guy who has essentially wrestled one day per year for the last five years lost to a "part-timer."
More on The Undertaker’s Loss at WrestleMania 30 Posted by Larry Csonka on 04.07.2014 More on the story… - As previously reported, the Undertaker losing to Brock Lesnar went as planned last night. Back in 2010, Undertaker wanted to work a WrestleMania program with Lesnar and reportedly was willing to lose and end the streak then. Despite rumblings of the long rumored Undertaker vs. Sting match taking place at next year's WrestleMania, the feeling backstage is that after last night's match, the Undertaker is done Credit: wrestlezone.com Read more at http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/n...ss-at-WrestleMania-30.htm#HPMJRbAgbTXSeJ0x.99
I'm surprised there's been no gifs posted of any of the crowd reactions after Undertaker's loss. After seeing Taker lose, I thought anything could've happened in the main event. I was half expecting a Punk return when they started wheeling Bryan away. This should be a fun RAW if it's anything like last year's. Plenty of random chants all night long.
I normally don't care at all for watching divas wrestle, but last night I felt a little bad for them having to follow what had just happened. There was a wardrobe malfunction on Cameron but sadly I don't think exposed breasts could've changed the mood in the crowd.
I've been a really sparse watcher of WWE product for years up until the release of the Network. I then watched a bunch of PPV's as something to have in the background, and with Wrestlemania last night, does anyone think Lesnar's ring work just sucks compared to his full-time days?? I mean, every match I've seen with him since his return has literally just been stomping, punching, screaming, belly-to-belly's, kimoras, and F-5s. And the announcers are always shocked and silent and scared. It's really boring. That said, Wrestlemania was awesome. I was SHOCKED that Taker lost the streak, and the Daniel Bryan matches were awesome. Wyatt/Cena was very entertaining and the Battle Royal had great spots at the end, especially Cesaro.
Brock is just amping up the UFC/MMA fighter side of his gimmick rather than his amateur wrestler side, hence the UFC trunks. Yeah, it's definitely not the funnest offense to watch but you can't really expect an older Lesnar who's recovered from diverticulitus to be like the agile Lesnar from 12 years ago.
