I am not going to complain since the rockets won, but when people b**** about the refs screwing the rockets which does happen you have other games like this to balance it out. I was at the game and I thought the refs were being pretty good to the rockets. They were calling some ticky tack calls on the rockets initially, but they changed to favor the rockets near the end. Specifically There were a few 3s where the thunder defender just had his arm out and the shooter would shoot just to make contact. The good thing they did was not call that rip through which durant does. Its annoying when durant just flails his arms and gets a call.
The Refs didn't favor the Rockets. Overall they just did NOT favor the Thunder (for a change). I watch a ton of basketball. I watch other teams other than just Rockets games, and OKC and Miami usually get the best end of the whistles. Most nights you can't even breathe on Durant and LBJ. Think about what it's saying when the NBA reaches the point that you are SHOCKED that they don't blatantly stack the whistles in their favor.
Disagree. Rockets were not getting any calls when they drove in the paint. There was a play where Butler blatantly fouls Jones intentionally, but there was no call. They got more calls on the perimeter, likely because the fouls were more blatant and obvious there. I also thought Garcia and Parsons did a great job dodging Durant's rip through move. Might have been good tape watching, but they retracted their arms pretty quickly before Durant actually hits them. In fact, in one replay, which JVG also pointed out, Durant hits Garcia in the chest with the ball instead of the arm before proceeding to lose it out of bounds.
It was a mixed bag last night. They called fouls that weren't fouls. Then they didn't call fouls that actually were fouls. Then they completely missed fouls like OKC players grabbing Asik down low to prevent him from helping or grabbing a rebound. And they made some good calls like the no call on the rip-through move Durant does. The officiating was fairly balanced for both teams... but the quality of the calls they made was lacking.
I wouldn't say that they changed to our favor, just that the refs were equally crappy to both sides overall.
If we got the touch fouls that Durant usually gets we would be the best team in the league. We get to the line and get calls because we are excellent at drawing fouls, not because they favored us. Durant tried his stupid rip throughs multiple times and basically ended up throwing the ball into the stands because we were ready for that bull****.
This. There was no reason for the refs to make these calls when Garcia and Parsons were bringing their arms down thus not falling for the bait. I know Durant usually gets these calls but Garcia/Parsons/Rockets staff must have had a chat with the refs to point out their intention.
I would say trying to be objective it was close to 50/50 when you consider Ibakas double goal tends. It was shocking to see Parsons draw the KD foul twice when KD couldn't do it himself. He used to be such a class act, now he whines so damn much. KD and Westbrook behave like such entitled brats these days. Hey, guess what, the reason you haven't won a ring yet is all on you, it's not like the refs don't give you calls 99% of the time.
I agree with you there, that, and Lebron's flopping get under my skin pretty bad. ....... ....... .......
I thought it was egregiously sided towards the Thunder in the first half, then egregiously sided towards the Rockets in the 2nd half. Overall evened out, but poorly officiated game from start to finish.
Durant looked shook when they didn't call his atrocious rip through move. His game heavily relies on it.
absolutely false thread title. Durant's rip through move was in full effect, even if it wasn't always called. The game was an endless flow of poor calls on both sides. Luckily we kept getting touch fouls on the perimeter while being mauled in the paint.
Agree with most; didn't really favor one side, but was poor overall. Difference was Durant not getting rip-through while Rockets were but I thought those were called correctly on both sides. For Parsons/Harden, the contact was there - mental mistakes by Thunder that have to be called. For Durant, no contact and no foul but they gave Thunder the ball despite Durant flinging ball out as a compromise. I'll take it.
I definitely felt the poorly officiated game tilted in TheGoodGuys' favor. I usually just think it was a rottenly called game, both ways. Last nite? Better for us, yea! PS Historical reality is that the LBJs and KDs get the calls. Their predecessors did; their successors will.
I feel the game was called better than other games. Glad it wasn't KD just getting calls over and over.
The rip through fouls that James and Chandler drew are calls Durant got the last 3 games against us. Rockets got in foul trouble early in the 4th but I do agree we got favored in the last 5 minutes.
