Amaro is being mocked in the first round, so that's just not true. Most mocks I've seen have him going before Shazier. They did re-sign BJ Raji, so I don't think Jernigan makes much sense.
Strike that, I haven't locked on mocks lately. I see a lot of them have changed drastically. Still think Amaro makes more sense and is a better player than Shazier, but I guess it's not bad considering the consensus in mocks.
Yeah, but Jernigan is a straight nose tackle though, so is BJ Raji. And they run a 3-4, don't think they would fit together unless there's obvious running downs and in goalline situations.

Amaro took a big hit at the combine with his 40 time. It was a big deal. I saw him drop a ton across the board after the combine. Shazier is a coach's dream, and the number of people in this draft who are better athletes could be counted on one hand. He might not go in the first, but he's the type that a defensive coach will fall in love with and lobby hard for. If he's there at the top of the second, I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Vrabel (who, if you haven't connected the dots was his position coach at Ohio State last year) gets on his hands and knees and begs Rick Smith to take him. Also he tore up Penn St. for the last two years, so there's that. Someone is going to look at Jonathan Vilma, and think if you scheme around the size by protecting him with a D lineman, he can be a Vilma type impact defender. I think Plowman made a great pick for Green Bay (not that anybody cares). You can plug and play as a weak inside backer in a 3-4 and he's a 3 down guy who can cover and blitz as well as attack the run.

Brown had 1500 yards and 8 TD's last season. I don't know if he can continue that but those are not "possession receiver" numbers. Pittsburgh has AJ Green and Josh Gordon in their division and Baltimore's receiving core may be a little better and their DB's are old and or not good plus that's a sack happy division and Big Ben needs to be protected. That's why I asked why did you go with Evans instead of drafting Dennard or an offensive lineman when you say good WR's are so easy to find in later rounds. Like Allen who everyone knew was a good prospect but he dropped to the 3rd round because of injury.

The report on Shazier: This guy sounds like exactly what the Packers need for that defense. Their offense has done just fine with filler TEs. I mean Jermichael Finley was supposed to be all worldly before his neck injury and didn't live up to it. Their offense did just fine with Andrew Quarless and Crabtree contributing at that position. Also if you look at their track record they hardly choose offensive skill players in the 1st round. Think about it, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, even Eddie Lacy. None of those guys have come out of the 1st and they're all dynamic players. They need help on defense and if its not Shazier I'm okay with that. Put I'm almost 100 percent certain it will be a defensive pick.
Jace Amaro is the 4th or 5th TE in my ranking, I think he's fine on passing on him in the first round.

Green Bay already have 3 very good receivers and a strong running game with Lacy _ how much you think Rodgers will actually even throw to Jace...??? That offense is already deadly and Jace looks like Coby Fleener 2.0. A note on Green Bay's scouting report reads the LB's can't deal with mobile QB's and the NFC has Kaepernick, Russell, Cam, and RG3 and Green Bay can meet up with anyone of those teams in the playoffs. They need help all over there defense and Shazier was a good start. Not the "consensus" best player available by the media but it just goes to show that every team's big board shouldn't look the same.
Yes... And that has nothing to do with Rodgers being a great quarterback, and or Mike McCarthy being a great offensive play caller and his staff able to develop players, and or having a darn good GM. Those are teams that can take later round receivers and make them work. That's why they have 3 of them and the Texans just have one. And Pittsburgh is the type of team that could pass on Evans and take Dennard which helps them more especially since they already have a #1 receiver in Brown (a late round pick as well).
