Thats a different topic, but yes they WILL TRY to find new homes for Lin & Asik almost certainly. Whether they move them or not depends on if they are lined up to get the guy they want to get in free agency or June/July trades.

But yes, Morey will shop the hell out of Lin & Asik. That's a guarantee. With Asik's play recently, I think he has value, and shouldn't be difficult to move on an expiring deal if the Rockets aren't expecting much in return other than cap space. Lin on the other hand, your probably gonna have to pay off a team to take him. That might cost you a 1st rounder to get done so I would have to think that there would have to be a pretty game changing player coming back to the Rockets afterwards to make those moves.... and that's not Hawes, Mo Williams, Ariza, or Thabo. More like Melo, Z-Bo, or maybe Lowry.

Other than as a throw in, I suspect we would get absolutely nothing for Greg Smith.

It would be $1.385M, but by definition that is 25% more than the minimum + an additional $200K. He isn't worth that much more than the minimum. He isn't worth anymore than the minimum. It would be like throwing away $440K.

Yeah, no trade value in Smith at all. The better play if we are considering having salary to trade would be to sign a guy now to a 2-yr deal with second season non-guaranteed.

Yes, but a throw in with variable salary to meet trade salary requirements. If the Rockets get their wish of trading for a third star, they will most likely have a huge holes on their roster. Package Smith, a couple of first round draft picks, and 3.3 million dollars and you probably could get a good rotation player like Thaddeus Young and still have the MLE to bring a guy over from Europe or sign another rotation player as a free agent.

Good thought but better accomplished with a non-guaranteed salary which we could get if we drop Smith and sign someone else.

Rockets only have a room exception left. Smith can sign for a deal up to 3.3 million dollars and have cash cover all of his costs to other team. As Smith would sign a deal for a third less the salary of the player Rockets are acquiring, the other team (which would need to be under the cap after the trade) obtains that third of salary in cap space.

Maybe the Bulls make some moves and determine they need 5 million more in cap space to sign Lebron. The Rockets could sign Smith to a little over 11 million in guaranteed money and trade him for Boozer, a couple of first round picks, and rights to Mirotic.

With Greg Smiths Bird Rights are basically an expiring contract that can match any salary in the off season from a team that will be under cap after the trade.

True, he could sign a bigger deal. But another team has to guarantee that first season. What team is going to give Greg Smith more than than the minimum, coming off a knee injury, having shown nothing in this his 3rd year in the league? Realistically...nobody. Nobody is going to give Greg Smith more than a minimum salary deal. We're better off having a non-guaranteed salary which could be used as salary filler and then dropped if the other team wanted to drop it.

This guy would be tremendous. Let's hope he's stayed in shape and has good spirit since not being picked up in so long. Guys like him give LBJ a run for their money. How is he not on an NBA roster?

    Old as dirt.

The obsession on here with Camby and Okafor is unhealthy.

Marcus went to answer a call from Morey and injured his wrist.

I'll take 8-10 minutes a game from Marcus Camby for the vet minimum. Let the old man give it one last gas.
