Orthodox Jewish man photographed covering himself in plastic bag during flight

I find absolutely nothing to admire about this kind of behavior.

 

When doing US <--> Israel flights, I always tried to connect in Europe, or else fly on shabbat where these kinds of dudes can't fly just to avoid being stuck for 12 hours+ with a bunch of entitled nutballs who are insular, removed from reality, and with questionable hygeine habits.

I also have a friend who is a Delta flight attendant who has done ATL - TLV and JFK - TLV runs. She's told me tons of horror stories about the haredim. The first time she went to Tel Aviv she was shocked by how secular and "normal" the city was compared to the religious screwballs that packed her flight.

 

Well, maybe opposition created this to cause them to suffocate themselves, or it was created to keep them from flying out of a city surrounded by cemeteries. Either way, looks like they've found a cheap, easy way around it, accidentally puncturing holes in the bag. I say kudos on their ingenuity.

Odd they'd seek to separate themselves from "death" by sealing themselves in a plastic bag for hours at a time. Damn near seems like a taunting invitation to the reaper.

Seriously though, if this is a rule, I'm guessing flying in a plane breaks a dozen other rules they must have too. Gotta have some serious faith without question to go around acting like this. I won't question that, but without trying to ridicule, I will say that I find it ridiculous.

In his defense, a rabbi with herpes infected two infant boys with herpes because of how he performs circumcisions with his mouth. I mean, cut the guy some slack. The rabbi sure did more than cutting. On the plus side I know what to wear for protection against impurity the next time I fly over a cemetery.

 

Still doesn't change the fact that he flew past cemeteries...
