More of an A&M post than Texans/NFL post but... [URL="http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2014/story/_/id/10722746/johnny-manziel-file-new-trademark"[/URL] Next up: Manziel looks to buy Texans franchise from Bob McNair; rename the stadium 'Johnny World' Next up: Manziel demands 'The Dawg Pound' be changed from 'The Dawg Pound' to 'Johnny's Dawgs'.
Tell tale signs of a bust in the making. Boy hasn't played a down in the NFL and already acting like a star.
Yeah, I don't care for him doing this. Only reinforces for those that believe Manziel is 'all about me'/all about his own brand. The House that Johnny Built? Stop it. Give me a break.
A&M guy here. And I agree that this is a little stupid on his part. It screams big-headed, look-at-me-look-at-me. But in his defense, why shouldn't he cash in on his fame now? If he does bust in the NFL, he will have plenty to fall back on based on his college success.
If I had to guess, he is basically doing nothing here. Probably advised by lawyers and marketing team. He probably just signed something and said go for it.
Jeremy trade marked Linsanity really early on. You can't try to associate his business with what Johnny does on the field. HE pays people to handle that while he's playing football. To try to say he needs to "concentrate" on football only is the same thing as Obama hater saying the president needs to stop filing filing out brackets and fix the economy.
Johnny could work on Football 12 hours a day and 4 hours a day of charity work and endoftheworld would find some way to bash him. He absolutely hates JFF for some reason.
i didnt think it was a big deal. i like his confidence in himself. There seems to be a lot of money riding on Manziel. How much money are put into bust?
The trademark stuff is a little cringeworthy, and I'm starting to feel like this is setting up to be a huge letdown.
It shouldn't be; it's something every single viable athlete does. Trust me - I work with enough of them to know.
