    Lebron!!!!!!

    Realistically, Lowry and Frye.
And if Asik goes, Okafor to come in as back up.

Morey will not give any free agency (except for superstar) a contract over 2 years this summer
sign Jordan Hill one year $4m or sign PJ Tucker 2 years $ 3.5m /year (part MLE)
sign Wesley Johnson 2 years $2m/year (if not PJ Tucker)

If I'm not wrong, AB can't be signed till 1 year after the trade. The NBA made this change after the Cavaliers traded away Zydrunas Ilgauskas only to get him back 30 days later after being waived by the Wizards.

If only it wasn't inevitable that Battier would go into media work- how about the chances of bringing him onto our coaching staff? He was a great locker room guy and an advocate of execution.

    *cough* defense *cough*

A decent starting Point G. Is a priority.

Then a decent PF with size.

There are 3 directions the Rockets can go:

    Superstar:
    Grab Lebron, Melo, Bosh

    Mid Tier:
    Bledsoe/Lowry/Gasol, with an Ariza

    Lower Tier for shorter Contracts:
    Channing Frye
    Thabo
    Ariza
    Boris Diow

I would personally love to see Lebron or Bosh but i would imagine that we go with the third option.

I definitely like adding this dynamic to our team, I think if you could add Diaw and Channing Frye, we could rotate our bigs and give the rest of the league fits.

    I'm looking for 4 things.

A 4 that is consistent and doesn't disappear on the defensive glass.

    A 3 that can defend and/or shoot.

    Shooters.

A veteran PG that can control the pace, isn't affected by ball pressure and keep everyone on track.

The one thing any potential free agent would need to have in common would be a willingness to sign for 1 year with at most, a team option for year 2. With that in mind, and assuming certain guys wont settle for the 1-year deal (who I ignored), I'd be interested in.

Marion, Pierce, Ariza, Sefalosha, Vince Carter, Butler, Diaw, Humphries, Collison, Alan Anderson, Booker, Bayless, Hinrich, Billups, Brand, D. Harris, L. Allen, Hawes, Mullens and Okafor. Andre Miller too if he winds up with no home somehow.

a deadly shooter and defense. I notice that this year it seems like we are missing way more 3's - at least it seems like open 3s we are bricking like crazy. Dmo had so many open looks but he's not a 3 pnt shooter. Parsons is okay but he has to be 'on.' prefer a 3 point specialist that can hit the 3 when open

I think he wants Durant or Love and will patch the team up and gut it out for one more year. If there is a quick fix, it might mean there are concerns about Dwight's ability to stay healthy for the duration of his contract. Next off season is going to be very interesting.

I'd go for the under-the-radar guys like Jordan Hill, Nick Young or Jodie Meeks. Yeah they're from Lakers, but either Young or Meeks coming off the bench would solve our second unit scoring issues. Bringing back Hill could take Asik's place when he eventually gets traded. For point guard, I'd sign Shaun Livingston. I've always missed the days of tall point guards ala Brian Shaw and Steve Smith. (Would still like to get Lowry back though.) Hopefully signing those guys to smaller contracts (and dropping guys like Casspi and Garcia) the Rockets should still have enough to sign a major talent.

I expect an attempt at trades or sign-and-trades for a star-tier player, using Asik and/or Lin to fill in salary, and a promising young guy or two and picks to help compensate for the talent gap and the poison pill effect. If it was going to happen, it'd be probably on draft night, or maybe maybe the moratorium. But, that's pretty much all a long shot.

After striking out there, I think we sit out the bidding for mid-tier, and offer 1-year contracts (with maybe team options after, or 2nd year not guaranteed) to a few key role players. In all, assuming we strike out trading for a star (likely), we won't look much different.

But, if we somehow succeed in getting a star by trade, I expect we would go balls out on using the MLE to pick up 1-2 good mid-tier players, and probably make additional trades to balance out the new roster. Then, we'll look totally different, save Howard and Harden.
