I think he means, Why get Clowney if he will be Mario 2.0.

I personally think he could be better

Well yeah, I thought that's what he meant, it just doesn't make any sense at all. The Texans would leap at any opportunity to have Mario back on a rookie deal.....and that's Clowney's floor IMO.

    I'd gladly take Mario 2.0.

He didnt show up every now and then, but overall, he was still one of the best DE in football.

Over a 5 year period, I think only a few DE had more sacks than Mario. Granted, you cant judge a DE purely by sacks, but he was a force...at least more of a force than people want to give him credit for.

And he's averaged almost 12 sacks a year in Buffalo. If Clowney can get double digit sacks, I'd gladly take him with 1-1.

I think you guys underestimate the power of having a Mario type player playing alongside someone like Watt. There would always be consistent pressure on the QB, unlike the crap we've had to watch for the last 2 years, minus Watt.

The more I think out it too, the thought of Watt and Cushing playing big brothers for Clowney is reassuring that he won't have Williams esque disappearance in games

    This

I also think Williams alongside of Watt would have been ridiculous for teams to take on

As would literally any GM, you exclude his weak rookie year and he's averaged almost a sack a game for his career(.73 sacks a game to be specific and that equals about 12 a year assuming 16 games a year).....and that's Clowney's floor.

Texans fans are a little odd.

Lots of hate for our own players who actually produced for several years (Mario and Schaub).

Rockets fans give lots of love to role players.

I would prefer to trade down vs. Mario 2.0. It's not that Mario wasn't good. Overall he played well enough. But this draft is considered by many to be a deep one. I'd rather have several lesser players than an inconsistent, injury-prone great one.

So Mack is Von miller 2.0 and Clowney is Mario 2.0. Tough call

It's looking like Clowney is the pick. I'm ready for him. I'd prefer to swing for the fences on Bridgewater, but that's only of O'Brien thinks he's worthy. Lord knows I'm not gonna see something he doesn't.

2012 Von Miller was better than Mario could ever dream of being.

Not a tough call at all. Von Miller all day long and twice on Sundays.

But is Mack really Von Miller 2.0? I don't know.

    Mario 2.0? Meh.

I want Mack and Johnny both and I'd give up our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd this year to get it done.

Mack's ceiling isn't even Von Miller and Clowney's floor is Mario.

No way you can say Clowney's floor is Mario Williams. That has never been true in history with any prospect.

Barking out someone's floor is a hollow statement, anyways, because the only time you'd know what their true "floor" was, is if they are an absolute, utter bust. That just simply doesn't happen in most cases.

If the Texans drafted Manziel at one, and then traded back into the first for a defensive stud, I'd be jumping for joy, but that's not how Uncle Bob rolls, nor do I see B Ob making such a daring move.

Can you imagine the media gasp if the Texans traded for the second pick and walked away with the two most intriguing players in the draft?

There hasn't been many prospects as good as Clowney in the history of the league. He's the defense equivalent of Peyton Manning. If he got by on natural talent alone, he'd be Mario Williams, that's why that's his floor. He can be that without trying. Polish him up a bit and he could be one of the most dominant defensive players the league has ever seen. He has that kind of talent.

What would it take to get either CLE, OAK, ATL 1st round pick?

We could have the 1st overall + 4, 5, or 6. What would it take?

A defensive equivalent of Peyton Manning...??? The kid only had 3 sacks... Lol... You and everyone else is just in love with his physicality and 40 time and ignoring his play on the field, or should I say lack of... You want to draft this kid pretty much on "POTENTIAL" and everyone knows that's dangerous. And saying his floor is Mario is just plain ridiculous.

Plus Clowney was coddled by the S.C. coaching staff just like VY was at Texas... Red Flag...

Atlanta is trying to move up higher than the 6th spot, no way they trade out of the first round.
