How much did Russell Crowe weigh in this movie? Because in RZA's hilariously awful kung fu movie he was definitely pushing 240-250lbs. He just seems like one of those guys who will pull a Val Killmer and say FU to the industry any day now, if he hasn't already.
I agree with this. Saw it yesterday, and it is definitely not the 'Sunday School' version of the story of 'Noah's Ark'. The previews reveal almost nothing about this movie. It was extremely heavily dramatic, the weight of the decisions having to be made are felt, especially through Crowe's tortured acceptance of 'what must be done'. There are some scenes at the end which will surprisingly cause your man-eyes to leak. While as a movie it is not exactly a 'Biblical' representation of the story, neither is it disrespectful to it. I understand the reaching for the more fantastical elements from the ancient Hebrew 'mysterious texts' because they certainly made the story more interesting, but it did give the whole affair a bit of a 'Lord of the Rings' kind of vibe in places. All in all though, it was definitely worth seeing, but know what you believe before seeing it, and you can enjoy it for what it is: a movie, and not a serious representation of 'the truth'. 8/10
The first part of the flick was very enjoyable, well done and entertaining. Then? (spoilers below!) Spoiler They essentially destroy the city having a huge fight. Clearly, tens of thousands of people are being killed and maimed, minus the gory details. Fight ends, movie comes to an end, and "Clark" is strolling into The Daily Planet, the city pristine, as if none of that insane destruction had ever occured. We're supposed to believe that? I'd give the first half of the film an 8, which is pretty damned good coming from me, and the second half of the flick a 3. It was simply absurd. Pity, because they could have ended it differently.
agree with the best lawyer in NYC, sir jackie. As a tru christian and Old testament only fan, I found this movie too michael bay'ish. infact, Loyd Dobler's "2012" was a more accurate depiction of the bible's original award winning script. Giant talking rock transformers? Tailored clothing for Noah? smh.
Just saw the movie, a worst piece of crap I've ever seen. The wife and I walked out because we couldn't take it anymore. There were 2 more couples that walked out, I have not walked out of a movie for a long time so this one is pretty bad. I've been hearing bad things about this movie but had to find out the hard way, should have listened to Sir Jackie Chiles. They could at least utter the name " God " instead of that bullcrap " The Creator".
What's wrong with "God"? Noah comes straight out of the Old Testament and you leave out God? Aronofsky is an atheist and his message is clearly showed. I saw 3 movies about God this year, loved the first two and can not stand this one .
Well, it's Hollywood Christianity Chickens*** 101. If it can be about the Bible, fine....but not TOO much so. What's an atheist doing making a movie of "Noah" anyway? There are plenty of garbage scripts waiting to be doctored with lots of special effects.
Not that I expect anything remotely respectful or accurate from Hollywood, but this was just a bad movie. One has to be extremely simple minded with no biblical knowledge to sit through it, and even then you're left wondering why you paid $5 for a tv movie. Wish a less pretentious director was given the budget.
I see the modern day version of Noah as god flushing out the flaming liberals in Hollywood who destroy all that is pure and original and saving God fearing, humble folk who make an honest living.
Matinee buddy. See if your local theater has deals. I would never pay $10+ to watch Hollywood take a **** on my floor then laugh at my kindness for offering to clean it up. Vile industry.
Noah was actually plagiarized from Ancient Egypt. I'd say that Aronofsky can do anything he wants with already lifted material.
had about 2 hours to kill for a lunch break inbetween meetings in myanmar. so visited a cinema. they had noah on but it started late. only made it til the rain started, but what i saw i enjoyed. i thought it was going to suck. also im in the 'i love the fountain' camp. just something very unsettling about the movie that makes me watch it from time to time when its on. i kind of got the same feeling from noah.
I've only ever walked out of two films in my life...both as a kid. One was "Hot Lead and Cold Feet". The other was "Silverado". That said...I would never watch a film like this in a theater just because it's not the type of film I want to see in a theater although, given the topic, it's better to see on the big screen I'm sure. It will be on a movie channel soon I bet and I'll watch it then. I did happen to catch a few minutes of another Noah movie with Angelina Jolie's father in it. Boy, what a pile of cow dung. Seemed to have a lot of young stars in it. This movie couldn't be as bad as any other Noah movie ever made probably even if you combined them all.
Wow, man! You are really sticking it to the "industry". Most people go see movies for full price, but not you. No, you give them less of a profit(never mind the fact that matinee fares are meant to attract patrons during low demanding times, so you are actually helping out the "industry" in this case). Go get em' Sinéad!
His point isn't to sabotage the industry or hurt it economically... his point is Hollywood regularly produces a poor quality product... which he doesn't want to pay to see ...more than he feels is deserving out of his own pocket... It's a valid stance... If he helps or hurts the industry, doesn't matter... The money coming out directly from his own pocket does...
