I do not think Manizel is a guy who can start from day 1. Gruden Qb camp manizel states that his center would give him the protection calls and that he was never allow to call protections(Around 31 mins into the show). In the NFL manziel will be responsible for calling protections, which he might struggle with initially. At 45 minutes, Manziel should move the safety with his eyes, but he stares down the wr instead. This draws me to the conclusion that he is often throwing to his first or second read and possibly only reading half the field on most plays. Remember Case is from the same offense and he struggles reading blitz. Manizel isn't a qb that can start day one. I still think he has a chance to be a successful qb, but he will need to go to a team that will give him the opportunity to learn before starting an nfl game.

Wow, I wouldn't think Mayock would be drinking the Kool-Aid like that.

He's usually the most solid analyst out there but this year he's had some really questionable takes. First he started the insane notion that Mack was a better prospect than Clowney now he's endorsing JFF at QB....it's weird.

In all honesty I am even more surprised by the Mack over Clowney notion than JFF as #1

Manziel is a money maker so I am not surprised he is throwing his name out there

    Mack over Clowney though???

Its also bizarre that he claims that Manziel is a better thrower than Wilson or even on Kaeps level

Well I could make the case that Mack is the more well rounded pure OLB, but I can't think of a scenario where he'd be the better prospect overall. When hearing him talk about Clowney though it sounds as if there is something personal, like something happened behind the scenes that we don't know about.

Well neither Wilson and Kaepernick are good passers, so that's not really impressive even if it's true. Both are at the very bottom of the league in pass attempts and always have been because their teams know that they aren't very good at passing the ball, thankfully their teams almost never need it.

Taken out of context. He said JFF is a better passer than wilson or kaep were out of college. Not presently.

I agree with him, it's the most "different' evaluation he's ever done, and probably the worst.

This "different" evaluation stuff is Bizarre

This is a guy who was down on Cam Newton in 2011 despite Cam going 12-0 at Auburn, and bringing Auburn back from a 24-0 deficit against Bama in the Ironbowl and demonstrating NFL level pocket presence and an elite arm

Most qbs who have questions about "winning from the pocket" don't have first round grades let alone "best qb in the draft" type endorsement

Mayock could be a genius or an absolute goat and out of a job in 2 years

Mayock is referring to arm talent, both of those qbs had very good (Wilson especially) arm talent coming out

One of the failings of this medium is that tone often doesn't come across. I'm not "riled up" I just think it's interesting that one of the most solid draft analysts would have so many questionable takes on prospects. It's not really a big deal though, hell maybe he's right, just because his takes seem ridiculous and are very bold doesn't mean they are wrong.

did you watch qb camp? this is gruden's subliminal messages penetrating. At one point I saw the word "different" alone on the screen, white font on black background. that's about when I got bored of it & bailed, but it seemed like "They live" kind of stuff.

I met Duane Brown on Friday night at Drinkery in midtown. He was at the bar with a few other big ass dudes but I asked him what he thought of Johnny Football and if he thought we were picking him or not. Before he could answer me, one of his buddies (body guard?) chirped in that he doesnt have any inside info on acquisitions.

Duane manned up and said that he met Johnny, like him as a person and would not be against the draft choice.

I held up my beer and saluted him, then told him I agree. I then left him alone as I know they probably didnt enjoy me grilling them for the few minutes I did. Luckily, my girlfriend walked out of the bathroom and I said my goodbyes and went to accompany her.

Duane is a beast in person btw.
