Yeah, religious explanations are very mature. Why do you presume that the universe was "created"? If the universe was created then what was it created out of? Whatever it was created out of was not created. Thus the universe was not created. A "creator" is not a necessary hypothesis. Just because we may never "understand" the universe or our origins does not mean we should accept a particular unprovable (and utterly fantastical) hypothesis.

Probably ever. Regardless of whether it is cyclical or not. It is very conceivable that in such a way the universe ( multiverse, whatever you want to call it) began, it will randomly end. And then perhaps begin again in a different way. We don't know ****. And likely never will.
The fact is on the human scale where we live, with our senses and the tools we have now, there is no information available to us about the nature if the singularity before the Big Bang....none, nothing zilch nada. It was the creation point of space and time as far as we can discern, so that it appears that there was only nothing before it. But I think the laws of thermodynamics indicate that all the energy and mass that exist now have always existed in some form. I think our human notion of time where there is a past present and future is colloquial, that if you could get outside our frame of reference you would see that since every particle of mass is moving relative to every other particle, there is no real past or future but just an ever changing now. So it's always now, it's always been now and it will always be now, just the states and locations of mass and energy change relative to each other. But the confusing clue is that Entropy never decreases; it's always increasing, always diffusing and adding complexity. Entropy could compel an existing singularity to inflate, sure, but does it compel existence from nothingness? So that, the trail of complexity is Nothing...Singularity...The Universe. It makes some sense, but we will probably never know. And there is now real 'why' in the thought experiment.

Nice. I agree with a lot of this post. Just elaborating: Entropy's purpose is to characterize the fact that certain phenomena happen unidirectionally down natural gradients whether it is heat flow from high T to low T, or mass from high concentration to low concentration. So if the entropy has to continuously increase and the singularity is what the universe came from, then some gradient forced everything to move towards that singularity earlier. Fake-science theories coming up: Spoiler Without knowing anything about anything, I fantasize that it was the previous universe collapsing in on itself, and this is just an expansion contraction cycle. Hindu vedic age documents talk about the day of Brahma being billions of years long, followed by the night of Brahma being equally long, and that Brahma lives for 110 of his days & nights. I think most of it is just anthropo-morphed discussion on observation of nature or their science. Some Vedic age hindu number systems were based on the alphabet of the time. A quick summary is that the sanskrit alphabet is a rendition of the sounds that one can make with their mouth. The mechanism is the tongue touching the top of the mouth, and the ordering of letters is from the back of the mouth/tongue to the tip/lip, where the lips take over and give you sounds like mmm, and ppp. A couple of number systems assigned quantity values to each sound or alphabet and by compiling sounds you say a particular number. Inevitably, some of the words in language of that time will have the same construct as certain numbers. Now, the popular connotation drawn from the contents of many religious hymns and chants is essentially listing different names and characteristics of a God, extolling their virtues. Perhaps by coincidence, or not, some of the strings of words in these hymns and chants, have been shown to represent numbers that are seen in nature e.g. the period of one moon orbit, the period of the earth's orbit, the period of appearance of Venus and Mars in the sky. There are strings of words that can also translate to ratios of lengths and radii when a square is inscribed inside a circle, and other properties of geometrical patterns. I'm not agnostic, but some of these findings interest me. However, the main thing I think people should take from it, if any of it is actually true, is an inspiration to support observing and documenting nature to continue understanding the world which inherently promotes technological progress, and hopefully progress of mankind. I'm comfortable with that philosophy. (is this in the D&D yet?)

science, like any tool, is only as good as the people using it... there's so many things that we do not yet know/understand.. advancements in technology will hopefully shorten that gap.
