I doubt we make it out this year, let alone to the wcf. what do you think about next year? with the spurs getting older(even tho this is said every year) and the thunder with even more experience. competition is getting better every year. i think a good shooter at pg like kyrie would be a great fit on this team. if we could package lin and asik with some picks or maybe parsons i think the cavs would do it.

harden and melo together doesnt seem like a good fit. i feel like one of them (or maybe both) will not be happy after not handling the ball as much. and we cant forget about dwight wanting his touches in the post.

Opinions are ok, they really are. But I'm going to say it is safe to assume that when Harden has been on a team Russel Westbrook, he wont mind sharing the ball a bit more. Anthony wants to win and has said Houston is one of his top choices exactly why would he be mad about sharing the ball when it will be his choice to come here???

They are certainly not favored this year, but depending on moves made this Summer and next could easily be ranked as favorites to come out of the West.

However for them to win it all this year, while possible, would take a lot of luck with matchups, injuries, and poor play from other teams that would seem to have a slight edge over Houston.

My only concern is the longevity of Howard's career. Does he have it in him to produce at this level for 4 more years? If not, Morey might want to get more aggressive with moves this Summer. If they think he can still truck on for a few more years, they definitely have the pieces to make a 5 year run, and strengthen their odds probably next year or the year after.

    If that answers your question.

This, but in 4 years. I think our current team needs 2 years to truly gel, and then in the third year, we'll win the 'ship.

The Heat got to the Finals their first year and won it all their second. But that's 3 of the best players in the NBA, and some timely heroics by good-but-old veterans.

We still need some time. But we're the current 4th seed in a ridiculously competitive WC, in which the Spurs have won like 50 in a row as of late, and OKC has the probable MVP. Griffin and Paul are Griffin and Paul.

Being 4th under the scorching SAS, the potential MVP-led OKC and the Clippers is solid, for our first year.

This year is a long shot since we'd be underdogs against the Spurs, Thunder, and Clippers and will have to face at least one and more than likely two of those teams in the playoffs. I don't fear anyone out of the East though.

Next year will be much better assuming the Rockets add a few quality bench players and/or trade for or sign a third star(Melo in the offseason or Love at the trade deadline being the most likely targets by Morey). There shouldn't be as many hiccups early in the season like this year since the players will be used to one another.

2015 and beyond is when they should be one of the top contenders in the league. Morey will have used all that cap room he's been saving up. James will be in his prime. Howard will be at the tail end of his. The Spurs will be done. OKC might not even be a factor anymore if Durant or Westbrook threaten to bolt(and they will if the Thunder don't win a title in the next couple years). At that point, it'll be us, the Clippers, and maybe one or two other teams in the West battling it out every year.

harden himself said he eventually wanted to start. he wasnt happy being a 6th man so im assuming he wasnt 100% happy sharing with westbrook either.

And there are many reasons why Anthony wouldnt be happy. melo is better as the dominant ball handler, same goes for harden. im assuming melo will get more touches since he is better than harden. melo may be happy but harden or dwight might not be.

i actually forgot that dwight is only a year younger than lebron. he seems like a 25-26 year old. anyways i think dwight will be fine. even if he loses his athleticism he'll still be a presence on the defensive end with his size

Unless our bench can steps up in a major way, I don't see it. Our bench is just too weak offensively, especially if Lin is struggling in the game. Would love to see a definite 6th man in the bench. Someone who is just there to score. Isaiah Thomas/Nate Robinson type player would be perfect. Also I would like a veteran big man and a back up wing defender.

Also we need to work on our turnovers. We can't have 3 players that will, in most games, get 3-4 turnovers a game in Lin, Harden and Howard.

I don't see us winning this year or even next year if we have the same players (Asik and Lin on their contracts). But after that, '15-'16 should be the year we should look to have a legit championship roster with the needed experience.

Realistically, we may never win another championship. But our highest near term probability is the next 2-3 years.

The Rockets need some veterans. Too many young players to win it all this year, and they are missing some pieces.
