As subpar as the show has been the last 2-3 seasons, I've been watching this show for 9 freakin' years. I'm definitely gonna be sad that it's over. Hoping the finale sends it out on a good note, as I expect it to.
Supposedly the last show covers what happens to the cast during the 17 years to 2013 since Robin+Barney's wedding.
spoiler'ing this just in case. Spoiler LOL. Worst ending they could've done. Why even prolong the show if they're going to go that direction. So dumb.
Spoiler Really? I liked it, though it seems like I'm one of the few. I mean, the show has always been about Robyn, so any scenario in which Ted doesn't eventually end up with her just doesn't have the same emotional appeal for me. I thought it was really powerful when you take into account just how much Ted wanted to be with Robyn, and that he constructed this large, elaborate story to legitimize to his kids that he wanted to move on but also make himself believe that he was ready to overcome tragedy. The one main complaint I have is that the kids were so unemotional about the whole thing.
After all these years the tracy theory pans out. Spoiler there was also another theory I read last year that predicted the mother died also, and robin was their current "mom." I wouldn't be surprised if the whole episode was an amalgamation of fan created theories
You're not alone. I liked it too, even though I definitely wasn't overly thrilled with the Mom being so glossed over down the stretch. Ted-Robin was always the foundation of the show, so for them to end up together isn't upsetting for me. I liked the mom though. I think she should have had a larger part in the final season, but whatever. I liked it in the end. Nice throwback to the first episode with the blue french horn thing, even if it was kind of cheesy. And agreed with the kids reactions. I was hoping for something a little more clever and well thought out than what they gave, but that's minor.
Spoiler The show is about a story of all the events leading to how Ted met the mother, which was basically centered around Robin. I understand the importance of her to Ted, but my main problem with the ending was timing. If the creators were going to go that direction with the show, don't commit a whole season to the wedding of barney and robin, build up the mother only to dispose of her in 20 seconds. I get the whole show went "full circle" but if you're going to do that introduce the mother in season 8, and go about ending like they imagined. Felt too rushed to go in the direction they did in 1 hour. If they would've done that I would have enjoyed the finale a lot more, but that's just me.
It probably was taking every ounce of talent from Fonseca to not look fine as hell. And I don't think we ever learned the son's name which is pretty funny.
