pretty much this, i didn't really have a problem with his mindset, he was attacking and drawing fouls, shots just weren't falling. Credit the clippers D.

Every time Lin has a chance to seize the starting position, he squanders it. It's ridiculous.

After he got blocked for the 2nd time, he got scared for a period. Became hesitant, 2nd guessing his drives which causes turnovers and then snowballs where it effects his shooting.

One positive note is that he really tried to shake this off by continuing to attack the basket later in the game. But by that stage, he was thinking too much instead of getting into the flow of the game and this was clearly visible even on the defensive end where he was slow to react/read opponents offense. Too much thought bubbles going on in his head at that stage.

I agree. If Collison and Griffin don't get those 2 blocks on Lin's layup attempts at the rim, he would've started the game 3 for 3 and then I think everyone would have a different perspective on his performance. Those were both great defensive plays. I also thought the Clips made sure to contest every one of his shots as if he was the #2 option. Jordan even followed him out to the 3 pt line to contest a shot. They were willing to live with Parsons going off, but not Lin. Credit Doc Rivers.

There's always room for improvement for any player. In his case, Jeremy would've been better off throwing up a few more fakes and trying to generate offense early in the shot clock. You have to get to your spot before the defense gets set against good teams like the Clippers. The other thing is for him to get a little more upset with his teammates for not rotating the ball his way when he was open behind the line. He was left on an island while Parsons and Harden did a lot of iso-action. Even if Jeremy doesn't take the shot the defense has to look his way and that opens up things somewhere else. McHale sort of alluded to the stickiness factor in his post game press conference. Now that he is the starting PG for the rest of the season, it wouldn't hurt for him to throw a little attitude at his teammates the way that Chris Paul does.

I also recall Mark Jackson sticking Igoudala on Lin in the 4th when they were playing Golden State. Lin played bad, there really is no excuse but people have to realize other teams game plan for Lin really well now. With Bev, they dont stick and play as hard as they do on Jeremy. This isn't really an excuse, but you can see when teams crowd the paint and challenge Lin to disrupt his flow more so than Bev.

He's proven he's a capable starter??? How exactly? By getting his former starting job taken by his backup? I'm not sure we're discussing the same player. You said he can start for several teams, but this a night after he was embarrassingly outplayed by a damn rookie on the night HE STARTED. If he can't outplay Cannon, how exactly could start for several NBA teams is just foolish. Jeremy Lin is d-league talent at this point. He failed last nite, and will fail in the postseason AGAIN if Bev doesn't comeback. There's a reason almost every sports analyst considered our championship chances dead with Bev hurt (and Lin starting). I laugh when Lin's fans make ridiculous statements like this post lol.

lol I was thinking the same thing. Already the 3rd post I've seen him spell like that.

It's Canaan. Learn to spell his name properly.

The only ridiculous thing in this thread is people crowning Caanan better than Lin after one game. Let's give this some time - if he continues to outplay him over the next 11 games, then i'll buy that.

He looked like **** until garbage time vs the 76ers and wasnt **** against cleaveland either. Since his hot start at the beginning of the season (before he got reinjured?) he's been garbage. Overpaid hot stinky garbage. Beverly going down should be his chance to step up and prove he's worth his contract and he sure hasn't done that yet. I'm all for him being an unstoppable linsane badass, two good point guards is champagne problems, but he has to actually be good first, and anyone who says otherwise is ignorant.

Tired of Lin's play this season... He started out well, even when his shot wasn't falling he'd come through with assists or just moving the ball around but now it's the same damn thing over and over again. His TO's are a massive problem and unless he's the focal point on offense he's useless.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Lin hater, but at this point he should have improved something about his game. I do think that if he were left to run a team he could be successful but not a lot of teams out there are going to let Lin just run the team.

    Hope Bev comes back soon.

At this point he can only redeem himself by showing up in the playoffs. I am going to reserve my disappointment until then.

    I hope you are right.

If Lin plays like he did for a brief time in NY, the Rockets will be in good shape.

Lin is a really good guy, I think everyone wants him to do well..... unfortunately he is very inconsistent and the arrow isn't pointing up.

Caanan had a good game, and he may ultimately be a better player than Lin. However, he is a rookie and there is a reason he hasn't played much with the Rockets... he isn't ready yet.

I think that fans just get really upset and they overreach. There were fans that wanted to trade Harden, that wanted to trade Parsons and wanted Howard to be traded so Asik could start.... it happens, but the Rockets staff have shown that they are right more often than wrong.

Lin should start next game. The Rockets need him to do well and he will be motivated. If Caanan plays well again great, he steals a few more minutes and we take it from there.

What is lost in this whole issue is that the Rockets NEED Lin to do well, they are going to try and put him in a position to do well. Beverley is the starter and IMO the better overall player for the Rockets needs, but he will not be 100% until next year... and it isnt realistic to expect Caanan to carry the load.
