I don't think a 7 game series with Memphis is as bad a matchup as it seems. Teams take away your #1 and #2 offensive options in the playoffs. For Memphis, that's ZBo and Gasol in the high and low post....and we have the perfect tandem at center to neutralize that.

They are going to take away the fast break, limit dribble penetration, and it's unlikely Dwight will have much success in the post. That means we need to move the ball and Harden needs to be the best player on the court....which he is.

Talent and team ball win in the playoffs. As long as the ball doesn't stick, we should be fine.

Neither do I. We might be able to pull it off, but Memphis can beat us.

They play Golden State on Friday, if they win that, they're ahead of Golden State on tiebreaker (unless they lose to Utah, lol).

I keep hearing how Howard and Asik matchup well with them. Maybe. But I have my reservations about us matching up with them rather than making them match up with us.

That slow tempo half court style they like to play isn't our strong suite. And putting Asik and Dwight in their plays to their strength in terms of pace.

Tonight's going to be very telling which direction Griz is going...

I really don't mind facing warriors or blazers, they are a team that has already shown who they are and we have a lot of experience facing them. But Grizz... we don't have any experience facing their full team execution. In a 7 game series, it'll be a tough grind and possibly injuries because of the physical game that they'd be playing.

If Conley flips a switch in the playoffs and averages 20+ a game, Memphis can beat anyone in the West, in a 7 game series.

The problem is that both ZBo and Gasol can both hit the mid-range, while both Dwight and Asik can't. One of either ZBo or Gasol can act as a pseudo stretch 4, limiting the effectiveness of the Howard-Asik pairing.

A poster has said that, even if we match up with Memphis and win the series, we will be dead tired from the physicality, going into the second round.

I have said the same as you in previous posts. Agreed. My point was meant to be, trying to win may depend more on trying to control the pace rather than a specific match-up.

Phoenix can beat anyone. They are young and foolish and have nothing to lose. I want to play them less than anyone except the grizzlies. I think clipps grizz 3 is inevitable.

Clips - Grizz or OKC - Grizz does seem inevitable.

memphis is dead last in 3 pt fg made a game with less than 5. Just need to crowd the paint and play TT. They won't be able to score.

i really dont think SA or OKC would have a problem with memphis.... like 5 games max

clippers will beat them as well if blake is healthy, which he hasnt been the last couple years going into the playoffs.

rockets would beat them down too, especially if bev can play.

basically i think the grizz are overrated. i actually hope they dont make the playoffs as PHX and DAL are more fun to watch.

Can anyone explain why Tay Prince plays over James Johnson?

There are only a short list of REAL title contenders.... these are teams that can win the title on their own merits without any help...

    Miami/San Antonio/OKC

Then you have a few teams that can pounce if there is injury or they play way above their head...

    Indy/LAC

Indy will probably make the ECF, and if they some how beat the Heat, will they beat OKC/SA/LAC? Not very likely.

Will the Clippers beat OKC, SA and Miami? Very unlikely...

Teams like Memphis and Houston can beat anyone in any single series but they are not winning a title.... the difference is that the Rockets needle is pointing up and the Grizzlies needle is in neutral.

I think the Clippers can beat anyone. Especially if Redick can come back and contribute. There are only 3 truly elite players in the league right now and they play for OKC, MIA & LAC. I think one of those teams wins it all.

Not impossible...... hence I put them on the bubble....

I just do not see them running the gauntlet of MEM - OKC - SA - MIA

Also, is there any reason to think Reddick is coming back? I agree that he impact is underrated, he is the best in the league at what he does.

Not scared of Memphis at all. In fact I'd rather play them than Portland or GSW
