Asik, Dmo, Jones, and Parsons need to set heavy hitter screens. Bigs and guards need to time it just right to not pick up an offensive foul. Practice before the game guys.
Are you--? Asik being backup center is a RESULT of Dwight Howard. Lin and Bev is nothing different from last year. If anything Lin has regressed. Brooks has barely contributed much this season. Parsons has gotten better but his stats have declined as the season has went on. Harden and Jones improvement is also legit but part of the reason Harden is better this year is because he's not carrying all the weight(Dwight the #2 option) late in the season. Causing him to play way less total minutes this season. Really tired of people downplaying Howard's impact.
Asik's screens are solid. Even Delfino from last year set a proper strong screen. That's 1 guy that the Rockets sorely miss.
Hope DMo can help defending the rim too. I have concerns about Asik continues to play 35+ minutes since we are also without Greg Smith to back up Asik.
Now we need harden to have 24 hour flu and miss tonight's game. Folks, this is nothing but a plan to rest Dwight, get Asik sharp and ensure we don't pass the clips. If we start getting too close to the blazers, Dwight will miraculously feel better and come back ahead of schedule.
Luckily? If Morey had that offer from Ainge, he would have taken it in a heart beat, and this team would be much, much, better. AFAIK, Ainge asked for Parsons as well.
Asik didn't have Asik backing him up. That's a BIG difference. We only had Bev half of the season. Who was our backup PG before Bev came? Aaron Brooks, Toney Douglas. Brooks played in 43 games averaging 17 mpg. He did okay overall filling in when Lin or Bev was out. We'll see if Canaan can do the same. Again, our backup PG last season before Bev was Brooks and Toney freaking Douglas. Not downplaying his impact. But attributing all the improved record to the addition of Howard is just silly. I wonder how we would do if we had Greg Smith instead of Asik as our backup center.
Well it looks like we got our last year's starting lineups back...it's not a bad thing. Last year's starters ain't bad.
Better to let him rest and heal instead of risking injury come playoff time. I'm sure Asik can pick up the slack during his absence.
I don't know if that's a bad thing. Would prefer SA to OKC in 2nd rd, and don't want to push everyone fighting to move up over the last few games. Just be sure to hold on to that 4th seed.
