well... one way or another the lin wars will end. 1. He plays poorly and he will be indefensible. We will all agree he is a mediocre player backup pg type. 2. He plays well, and we will all have to agree he is awesome. 3. McHale plays Canaan more minutes than Lin and we all have to agree that there is a huge conspiracy of hatred against Lin, and we wont know how good he is until he leaves the rockets.
I think it may be time for Clutch to split speculation and poll threads out of the GARM. They may be at times amusing, but they do get in the way of serious basketball analysis and discussion. I spend hours on posts such as http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=252331 and people spend minutes on some of these white bread pablum posts. Conceived on a whim with no thought. Represented by an ill worded sentence and perhaps an ill conceived poll. Sad. Worthless.
tinman doesn't understand this concept. we have to point the fingers. inb4 a contradictory post from him. watch out for a youtube video. or calling out your sign up date. he's better than you.
LOL. i posted that before i saw he posted the videos. look, those were huge plays, but they were huge plays after it happened, and we didn't know who it'd come from. asking if "lin will be a hero by hitting a gw" is just a stupid
I agree, but it's okay, heypartner doesn't know the definition of passive aggressive. Anyway, I also vote "Yes, Tracy McGrady like" I think Lin will redeem himself this year.
I want to believe in in Lin so hard, but I'm reluctant to do so, because he most likely break our hearts in the playoffs...
I can't post everything that these guys did. Robert Horry had 7 steals in a finals game. Kenny Smith lit up John Stockton. Maxwell dropped 35 points vs the Suns. Mario Elie playing tough D, etc It's not just shots, it's stepping up and being a hero.
do you realize what you're doing? you posted shots from maxwell, kenny, cassell, horry, and elie. i'd assume you also assume hakeem is a hero. THAT'S BASICALLY THE ENTIRE TEAM, CUZ IT'S A TEAM GAME. that's my point. why do we single out lin, when we don't know what will happen. will THIS TEAM be heroes and win games as a TEAM is something we should focus on. try again.
maybe we have different definitions of being a hero then. pretend if lin plays well and steps up (the definition of a hero by your standards). but what if tjones, parsons, dmo, dwight, and asik don't step up. what if it's just like harden and lin who stepped up to have big games more than their normal. but in this brutal west, it might not be enough to win. are they still heroes cuz they lost? no, i'd assume not. why tho, lin was a hero!! he stepped up. but we didn't win, why? CUZ IT'S A TEAM game, where we need everyone to play well. that's my point. maxwell dropping 30+ on the suns is a hero performance. but what if cassell doesn't get a double double in that same game too? and we lose the game. is he still a hero? that's what i wanna know. but based on how you percieve tmac, losing automatically means you can't be a hero.
it's his chance to be a hero. Like Sam Cassell, when he was given more time when they got rid of Scotty Brooks. Like Robert Horry, when Rudy moved him to power forward after the OT trade. Lin is getting his chance as a starter, and we're assuming his first significant minutes in the playoffs. we all know what happened last year (bruised chest)
right. im not denying this is a huge opportunity for lin. im also glad you at least acknowledge he was injured in last years playoffs. im just sayin...we just don't know...and there's nothing we can analyze to prove it either way. and im just wondering why it's targeted specifically for lin when we got buncha lin threads. why not a thread "who will be the hero" outside harden/dwight in the post-season. and what's your reply to my next post after the one you replied to?
Well heroes win playoff series, not lose them! Why is Michael Jordan is a hero? Why is Hakeem a hero? Did you watch Batman? If the Joker kicks his ass, he's not a hero!
I'm glad you acknowledged that our highest paid player wasn't very professional with his coach and truthful about his health.
Heroes don't blame others if they fail. I doubt Lin would even blame his coach for his play. I don't know why his fans would do so, maybe they can't stand the concept of accepting one's own actions.
Actually, you're forgetting Carl Herrera and (later) Chilly Pete as Thorpe's replacements after the mid-Feb trade. Horry didn't move to the PF spot until well into the WCF series against the Spurs. Chilcutt proved to be ineffective against Rodman, but Rudy T didn't slide in Horry as the starter until game 5. Just saying...
you're not getting my point though. in basketball, it's not just one hero. it's a sum of all parts to win a playoff series. in all those great performances you listed by rox role players, there were other players in that game that stepped up to win the game too. my point is (example being the 34 point game v. phx with maxwell), if cassell didn't get a double double and we lost...then he's no longer a hero (maxwell), even though he did the same thing. cuz it's a team game. either we need everyone to be heroes and play well, or we can just say we need the team to step up and play well. it's not a batman v. joker situation.
