Yeah, because embracing stodgy mediocrity has really gotten the team far.

I know the Texans want to follow a certain culture, but the team needs some zing. Will Manziel translate to the NFL? Couldn't tell ya. And neither can a lot of the so-called experts, pro or con. But I don't think a rock star would be the worst thing for this team. Not if he's good, anyway.

For example, McNair stuck with a "gosh, shucks, golly" don't-rock-the-boat (but do drift like garbage at sea) head coach for the better part of a decade.

And the only flash Schaub displayed was four games in a row: pick-6; pick-6; pick-6; pick-6.

He actually seemed to thrive when the pressure was on. People worried about how he would handle it after winning the Heisman and the whirlwind tour prior to the cotton bowl. He came out and destroyed OU in the cotton bowl. I never hear the team had any problem with him or his fame. After his rough offseason before his 2nd year he came out again and had a great year. He was all business since.

He won the Heisman and led his team to two bowl victories in the 2 years he was there. I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that the off-the-field stuff was much ado about nothing.

O'Brien did remove all acknowledgment of individual achievement from reliant when he first came in so this concern really doesn't surprise. But I really hope it's not the reason they don't draft him or Clowney. Because that could mean bortles is the first pick.

I agree 100%. The Texans were the most dull and boring team in the NFL last year. The Texans desperately need someone like Johnny to wake everyone up. Johnny thrives in the spotlight, while the Texans have always feared the spotlight. We need a dynamic larger than life rock star of a QB to come in here and shake things up.

No doubt, I thought Kubiak and Schaub were the two most boring people in the NFL. I am definitely for more "snap, crackle, and pop," but I don't think they will pick Johnny.

At this point, for me it's Johnny or Clowney. Passing on Johnny is dangerous. He's gonna be a star. He's magic, and we need a QB. In a class of questionable QBs, Johnny stands out because he wills his team to win. And Clowney is a once in a decade freak. I think we'd be safe picking either.

From what it seems, the Texans aren't even giving a thought about Bridgewater, so I would definitely rather have Johnny over Bortles.

It sure was nice of Schaub to pay back one of those pick 6's.

I won't freak if Bortles is selected, but I'd rather roll the dice on Manziel or Clowney.
