I'd try the pre-breaded frozen stuff from Sysco or your local grocery store, same place Luby's get's em.

The one at City Centre was all you can eat on Saturdays, but it closed down. Any of the other locations do that? Count me in as a tipper, because I sometimes ask for tobasco with my cfs and they're usually on point with refills.

Same dudes that **** on Whataburger. **** on Timmy Chang's

Folks complain about how Houston doesn't charismatic it's own history. They want get mad when an old historic building gets turned into a shopping center.

Yet when asked were the best food is they lift their legs and smell their own farts while talking about some nuvo-Art Deco cafe. They're just a bunch of Yelp! Internet wannabe hipsters.

uhhh you didn't hear it's cool to hate Luby's? Say something about poor people, how it was way better in the 1800's, or post something about your cool new fedora.

    That's the internet.

Honestly, I think most people are surprised that Luby's is still in business. Haven't they closed most of their stores?

The cafeteria model is a thing of the 80's, and has been replaced by "fast casual" dining - i.e. Panera, Chipotle, etc.

lubys was a texas institution, but it all went downhill when pappas bought it. food "quality" went way downhill, prices went up and they now expect their customers to tip people for filling up their drink once and giving you a straw.

i waited tables for years so i am very sympathetic to the service industry, but i have a hard time giving someone a dollar for refilling my water once.

real waiters take your order, bring you your food and ensure that you have everything you need during your meal. "servers" are supposed to "serve" your food...whatever those people are at lubys, they most certainly are not waiters/servers.

LMAO. What else does a waiter do that a server doesn't? Refill drinks? Check.

What else? Bring you your check? I worked as a bartender so I know the industry and to say waiters are some class above servers is laughable unless it's in a 5 star restaurant.

Agree with the bolded. I think Luby's will go out of business within the next 5 years or so.

In Kingwood, the Luby's is literally within walking distance of a huge retirement community.

Somebody clearly did their market research on that one.

Memorial City. And yeah, that was tons better that Luby's, though I liked Luby's ok too.

Picadilly is still open...there's actually one in Almeda Mall, apparently...though I couldn't have told you that without looking on their website. They do have locations I've seen in Florida that are still open.

And I'm absolutely with those who say Luby's became overpriced after being bought by Pappa's...essentially paying same prices as a much better meal at restaurants otherwise.

LMAO at you brah! try reading my post again - i mentioned several things that waiters/servers do that luby's "waiters" do not. the fact that you dont understand the difference shows that you do not know much about waiting tables.

not only is your reading comprehension poor, but you are claiming i said something i did not. i never said waiters are above servers...waiter=server - the terms are what we call "synonymous" or "interchangable", if you will.

The true measure of a human being is how you treat people that have no power over you, or who are subordinate to you.

The people doing the grunt work at Lubys make nothing. I waste more that a dollar or two a day on worthless crap. It means more to them than me.

If I stiffed people on tips in general, I'd be ashamed to look at myself in the mirror in the morning.

I guess if I worked a minimum wage job or something, I might not tip, but at least I'd feel guilty about it.
