Imagine if Lin had that Bev junkyard mentality...man Lin would be sick

What's the realistic expectation this year in the playoff with everyone healthy anyway?

To be honest I'm just as worried that Lin doesn't show in the playoffs, as I'm about throwing Canaan into the fire. We can just hope this injury makes Lin play inspired.

Sucks for Bev. Meniscus injuries can a real pain. If it's in a spot with good blood flow, rehab can be an option. If not, surgery is needed. If they remove the meniscus, recovery is pretty short, and he could be back for the playoffs. Of course, this opens you up to the likelihood of arthritis down the road which could lead to knee replacement. (I believe Brandon Roy had his meniscus removed and was able to return in only a week for a playoff game. Of course, look at the later problems he had)

If he has the meniscus repaired, it is a much longer recovery, but he is at much less risk of problems in the future. I had a meniscus repair in 2010 and it really took about a year for my knee to feel normal again and for me to trust it.

Whatever works for the team making their way through the playoffs, works for me as a Rockets fan. I see flashes of his ability to be even better from time to time and maybe he needs an opportunity like this to be the impetus for better performances down the stretch instead of the flashes he's shown us. I think he's a far better player than what we've seen to date with him as a Rocket.

That said, if McHale has to make other adjustments to get the W, he should definitely make that call.

I disagree, Lin should play his style, his strength.

People here always say "Lin should play aggressively whenever he is on court". Guess what, aggressive always come with risk, there is no such thing as aggressive with low turnover.

Rockets as whole play a high risk style, with highest TO number.

    This.

Jeremy Lin's role on the team has never been to be a junkyard dog like Bev. He is there to provide sufficient defense with good offense coming off the bench. He will definitely need to adjust now that he will be part of the starting unit. I do not expect him to play with the same tenacious D as Bev. Bev was a purely one-dimensional player that gave you that defense and intensity. Beverley's injury is not about whether Lin can step up to that role. I reckon it will do more with Canaan. Canaan will be a very important player in the playoffs. He needs to be able to provide valuable backup minutes and play with the aggression that Beverley did.

I thought coach mchale said that he has two starting worthy point guards. Also the debate was Beverley is more fitting for the starting lineup, not necessarily a better point guard. Now, after Lin had a bad stretch, Lin is labelled as a back up point guard?

Depends on the seeding. In general for me, the chance of winning each round depends a ton on who we're playing. This was with Beverley. Post Beverley, not sure. Would have to see Canaan play.

    1st round :
    Portland 70/30 (No defense)
    GSW 60/40 (lack of bench)
Memphis 55/45 (very tough due to size inside)
Phoenix 75/25 (inexperience, youth and lack of depth)
Dallas 65/35 (gotta give Dirk some respect, he's hurt us WAY too many times to be written off)

    2nd round :
Spurs 45/55 (slow in transition, can't match up with Harden)
OKC 40/60 (fast, athletic, shot blocking, can match up with Dwight and Harden)
Clippers 40/60 (fast, athletic, shot blocking, can match up with Dwight and Harden)

    WCF
Spurs 50/50 (age catching up the more games played)
OKC 45/55 (fatigue due to heavy reliance on KD/WB, lack of bench depth)
Clippers 45/55 (general inexperience under the bright lights)

So it was pretty much a crap shoot with the West being so deep.

Cannan was the third leading scorer in the NCAA when we drafted him, i think he was scoring like 26.4 pts a game or something. He has the speed and is prolly the most fit (muscle tone) wise PG on the team. I just feel like he isnt ready to be thrown into the fire just yet. He plays scared at time, and it being his rookie season you cannot really be mad at the kid. He differs alot, and that has limited him offensive ability in the minimal time he has gotten on the court. I hope with extended mins he looks like the kid that use to ball out at Murray St. every game. GO ROCKETS.

We will see, so far he has looked very scrubby against the scrubs of the NBA in the limited PT he has had.

in our next 5 games we play against Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Kyle Lowry, Russell Westbrook & Ty Lawson. Jeremy Lin will be eaten alive by all of them. Losing Beverly is a huge blow for this team. Lin only provides offense and even that on an inconsistent basis. But offense is something this team has enough of. Our perimeter D will really suffer without Beverly. I just hope we can play decent enough defense to finish the year off strong and make a deep run in the playoffs.

Not to be a debby downer, but any chance we had to beat the Clippers or Thunder whenever we faced them is out the window now.... I just hope we can avoid them til the WCF atleast. :/

With the exception of LoF's, I think all of us are. We know what this team is like without Beverley... it's not going to be pretty.

If he's going to start? Yea no. Lin is never going to be better Harden --a top 5 player in this league. Its like that with most teams, Lin will never be the goto guy (unless 6th man) . If he wants to succeed in the NBA he needs to stop playing like he had a seizure.
