He has been a good shooter since highs school. Always noted for that and considered one if not the best offensive player coming out of high school his year. I remember his recruitment that year for UT. He was not quite as good as advertised, but he could always shoot.

Ok, bad trade in hindsight. It seemed pretty bold considering that we already had PG injuries for most of the way. Its also unfair to expect a lot out of Cannan when he has barely gotten to play.
Yeah but hindsight is always 20/20. If I didn't know that Bev would suffer a possible season ending injury, I would do this trade 10 times out of 10. Maybe Morey can surprise us with another surprise point guard stash from China or Czech Republic or something
Even knowing what we know now I dont think it was a mistake making the trade. Call me crazy, but I think Canaan can give us most if not all of what Brooks would have been asked to do in this situation. 15-20 minutes, limit turnovers and knock down 3s. I imagine that's exactly why they felt comfortable making the deal in the first place is they believed Canaan could do what AB did.
Morey needs to find another undrafted FA guard like PBev. One who can clamp down on D and shoot the trey. He did it once, he needs to do it again. Soon.
Yep. This Morey move was terrible. I understand you want to do Brooks a solid by giving him a opportunity to play elsewhere. But outside of Bev, you have no reliable PG that's performed well in the postseason. If your gonna trade Brooks then get another scoring point guard. Lin's scary ass is not the answer
We signed Brooks because he knew the system, did well for us before and is a veteran in case of injuries. Now when does a veteran come in handy, especially in case of injuries?? Hmm, well Morey?? The playoffs YES. Stats don't tell you that do they? Thought it was a dumb move when I found out, and even more dumb now.
Brooks was awful last year in the postseason. He might have been better this year due to his better regular season - but you are vastly overestimating his replacement value.
Can we at least wait and see if Canaan is any good yet before we start crying? Morley thought he was ready and good enough to at least be as good as Brooks. Maybe he was wrong...or maybe he is right.
In this instance you could use the trend of the season where both Lin and Beverly missed considerable time to come to the conclusion there was a high probability. I think Cannan can be our guy, just not our guy while he has only been allowed to play around 30 real time NBA minutes. Maybe Cannan with more experience under his belt.
You are incredibly stupid. That being said, I'm not going to waste my time over a player that isn't a rocket anymore--or with you for that matter.
Yeah, we need some more of Brooks' 11% 3 point shooting in this year's playoffs. Of course, it is true that we got basically nothing for him. McHale might as well draw names out of a hat to decide whether he has to send in Hamilton, Casspi, or Garcia.
Hoping that Canaan can handle the backup minutes while heading into the post season is just wish and prayer. Morey will have a better backup plan than that. If Canaan can earn those minutes, then alls well and good, but to not even have any backup plan is foolish and wasteful. Bring in someone to push the kid, or replace his minutes. Clock's ticking while we ready our playoff push.
