Manziel has been compared to Young by Rice and Gruden Bridgewater to Montana by Brian Billick and Matt Waldman Bortles to Big Ben by Jaworski and numerous others Manziel has the athleticism (though not as fast), instincts and swagger of Young, Bridgewater has the football IQ, pocket presence and accuracy (short to intermediate) of Montana Bortles has the size and physical "shrug off" ability and play extension ability of a Big Ben Who do you take?
I think Johnny to Russell Wilson would be the better comparison. Teddy B to Rodgers and Bortles to Gabbert.
When Gruden compared him to Young, he also said that Johnny had strength and size.....not true in the least. Steve Young was 6 ' 2-3" and weighed around 220-225. He had ..massive talent, one of the best offensive lines, the greatest WR of all time and his crew, an innovative coach, etc.....yet he still took a lot of punishment playing his style. And could handle it at his size....Also, before the evolution of the specimens/human missiles we see today. These days, playing like that is a recipe for becoming pulp.
Since this is all ridiculous anyway, let's also compare Jimmy G to Peyton Manning, Derrek Carr to Tom Brady, and David Fales to Drew Brees. Who do you want then?
You can compare Derek Carr to his older brother. Fales to Brees? Drew would choke you with mardi gras beads if he heard you say that.
The game has evolved significantly; QBs don't take the beatings they did 15-20 years ago. That's why the idea that a QB *has* to be 6'4", 230 is silly.
Probably the turf a lot if Gordon keeps dropping passes like he has the first 2 years of his career. /troll'd
Well in some ways I am serious, Gordon drops a ton of passes, but I meant it as light hearted trolling. I mean he only drops like 5% of the passes that come his way so it's not like he'd drop ALL of them.
