If you had a choice between going to either of those cities in Thailand or Japan for a few days which you choose?

    Kyoto no doubt.

But the question is, can you afford it?

Yeah. Only staying for 2 days. Overall spending about a month in different Asian cities.

i wasn't so impressed with kyoto, the city or the sites. other than the fushimi inari gates, it was disappointing. restaurants seemed to be overrated as well. if you do go, i recommend staying at the hotel in the train station (hotel granvia) for convenience of getting around.

in chiang mai you can visit tiger kingdom

If you've never been to Japan, go to Kyoto. If you have, go to Thailand.

I'm going to be in Bangkok and Tokyo. I just couldn't decide on where to go out of the two from the title. Wish I could go to both haha

I'd pick Kyoto, given that you'll be in both Tokyo and Bangkok. Reason being is that it's a lot easier/cheaper to get to Kyoto from Tokyo (bullet train) than flying from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.

I wouldn't go to Japan right now...Especially not Tokyo.

There are apparently radiation hotspots in Tokyo.

No real difference. Asian places are like the people that live there, they all look the same.

So not true and steroetyoe written all over it.

The East Asian nations might have some similarities from the past, but other than that the difference in culture and technology can be seen.

Southeast asian nations and South Asia are two different parts of Asia as well.

    Then, there's the Middle East.

The ignorance of this one is low.
