After McGrady left, the Magic made the Finals in 2008 (4 years later). That is much farther than McGrady has ever made it while actively playing. The Rockets made it to the 2nd round with Artest and Yao while T-Mac was sitting on the bench. Yeah, I would say that teams have found greater success without T-Mac than with T-Mac.
Your such a dense homer. Take a chill pill. Harden is good. All im talking about.... Is his freaking jumper. Jesus christ. The way he shoots the ball... (his form) (his indecision)
not really fair... the nba is a gaurd driven league now. when is the last time you have seen a hand check or the a HARD foul in the paint. Some of the old timers - Lucas, Wiggins, and Murphy were good to HOF. But if they played by todays rules plus the 3 point shot. Who really knows
I thought we are comparing individual players, but somehow, when compared to TMac, "team" success is the major key; when compared to Clyde, individual stats is the decision factor; when compared to SF3, potential leads all the way. On a side note, we can also compare Harden's step back 3s (those are insanely enjoyable) to MJ, and ended up with confirmation bias. TMac is a superior decision maker and a better defender. He also defends better. Speaking of team success, had we had a Juwan Howard making 2 or 3 jumpers, we would have swept Dallas; had we had a Scola or Landry, we wouldn't have failed to Jazz due to 3 consecutive offensive rebounds on last possession.
TMac- 13 points, 35 seconds 22 game win streak the Toronto game. Harden still has to show me something to be considered better than Drexler or Mcgrady. In my opinion Harden's given us more than Francis already. Harden has gotta deliver come the playoffs.
Why would we dwell on Clyde's team success when out of all our good SG's, he's had the MOST team success? That's just dumb. If we are going by only team success, Clyde would easily be the runaway winner as opposed to T-Mac who literally has ZERO team success or post season success? The only reason T-Mac is in this discussion, is despite being such a loser and a diva, he had the talent and gifts to prop himself up to Clyde's level.
Considering the numbers say he's been playing at MVP level for the past 22 games. NO I'm not being a homer. Ur the one who looks like a fool nitpicking about his best attribute which is scoring tons of points "effortlessly" and efficiently. No gaurd has done it better I repeat no gaurd. Facts speak louder than whatever you got. And no u weren't just talking about his jumpshot you were questioning his agressivness and his athletism. Both which are fine by the way. I'm not saying he's a finished product I sure hope not but he's awfully good and arguably the third best player in the game since allstar.
If you had to take one Rockets guard during their tenure in Houston I think Harden is right there with Clyde and T-Mac if not already surpassing them in talent and effectiveness to carry your team. However if your talking about their history with the team & factoring in accomplishments, its hard to vote against either Clyde of T-Mac. So IMO those are two separate arguments, but for both it has yet to be seen cause Harden has so much basketball left in his career. When Clyde got here, he was on the back-end of his career, and T-Mac's career was cut short so I could definitely see Harden end of having the best career of all of them in a Rockets uniform of course. I do however have a hard time seeing his surpass Clyde as one of the all-time greats to ever play SG. We are talking about a top 50 player of all time. In reality, Harden hasn't done anything yet.
Harden's assist #'s, steals, 2pt%, 3pt%, FT %, and FTA's this year are already higher than TMac's career stats. Not saying he's better, just saying it's probably closer than you'd think. Maybe because TMac was an athletic freak with crazy length?
FACT: The Rockets are known for their centers over the years The best Rocket player per pound is a little man named Calvin Murphy. He played many years ago (1970 - 1983) and only for the Rockets. The NBA was a lot different now... In todays NBA CM23would be unstoppable. He was close to unstoppable back in his day. The closest thing in today's world would be Stephen Curry mixed with Patrick Beverley to the fifth power. He is hall of famer. Harden is a great player and may surpass CM23 as the greatest guard in a rockets uniform. But not today
hard to bring in career stats when tmac's averages were hurt big time his last few years bouncing around teams. McGrady during his first couple of years here to me was still better than Harden and made better decisions with the ball BUT Harden is still really young (younger than when TMac got here) and will get better and has gotten better of late especially over the last 2 months. Harden will overtake McGrady soon enough.
one of those history vs. right now kinda deals. obviously he's set himself among the ketchup and mustard greats with his first few seasons...where he ends up? hopefully in the rafters. tracy mcgrady? isn't in any serious discussion. drexler makes it for his ring and overall houston contributions lol... murph. kenny and sam cassell as a combo make it. yea, harden has easily set himself up to be the best to ever don the red/yellow. did i say guard?
T-Mac was more of a swingman/small-forward than a true guard. Harden isn't quite on his level yet, but he's getting close (he's better, obviously, in terms of offensive efficiency, but not overall).
That's just pure ignorant . Hello they drafted Dwight Howard , the best center in the league remember ? fyi Orlando had a league worst record after Tmac left them.
I think both you guys are wrong. Tmac left after the 2003-04 season, right before they drafted Dwight Howard. They made the finals 5, not 4 years later in 2009.
LOL... ignorance? Do you even read what you post? T-Mac led the Magic to a league worst record. That is how they got Dwight Howard. They traded T-Mac to Houston and then drafted Dwight and Jameer Nelson. You are right. I thought it was 2008, but it was in 2009 which is 5 years later.
That's the pattern Toronto, Orlando, Houston all have moved forward after he left. Also noted when McGrady goes to the cities he always says he wishes he stayed there.
