To be fair to Manziel, the Vince stuff was worse. You had all the UT fans plus all the local high school football fans plus all the local black football fans all piling on. Sports radio was a total disaster. Manziel hasn't brought any of that on yet.

Sports Radio was like listening to people read a GARM thread about Jeremy Linn vs Patrick Beverly.

pro day doesnt tell you much besides some metrics and that he is able to prepare and make basic throws. In the heat of the game, hes gonna revert back to his habits and instincts, everybody does this which is why it makes no sense to say JFF is the best qb based on pro-day. Makes more sense to base it off of GAME TAPE from the past few years.

theres a good chance he might be good.. and theres a good chance he might suck ass. dont let ur college station homerism fuel u

    agreed.

texans radio pundits are saying no way you line up clowney in a romeo crennel defense. That clowney doesnt suit any 3-4 that crennel runs. So the no brainer mentality on the radio continues to show QB.

Hype machine for manziel is catching steam. I say look no further than the game tape from mississippi state. Manziel had a bunch of ill advised interceptions and more importantly poor choices.

It took about 45 minutes for the ball to hit the sidelines. NFL dbs are going to eat this guy up. I think manziel is 2nd round material at best.. but all this hype is going to get him 1st round and heck maybe even number 1.

I don't believe manziel will be good but I am down to root for him if he goes to texans. I just think it would be real ugly right away. I don't believe in manziel until I can see some proof in NFL. not his fault he hasnt had chance yet, but for now he is a big time wildcard. too much so. I wouldnt touch him this go. agree with texx have to take clowney despite the crennel scheme concerns.

    Color me surprised and impressed.

That said, he could end anywhere from Doug Flutie to Fran Tarkenton? And there is legitimate downside risk as far as injury.

I still want to trade down and this just raises the value of our pick.

At this point, can you really afford to take the risk and pass on him? He has the best numbers against the best defenses and now the best pro day.

If you pass and miss, can't see the fan base forgiving the Texans.

This could even be a Hakeem versus Jordan moment. Perhaps both Clowney and JF2 will do great. Still, there has to be a tinge of regret on passing on the best ever player for the best ever center.

Let's get this straight tho. All of the black callers wanted Young.

Right now though most the black folk I talk to want Teddy or Clowney, go figure.

Does it really matter about the color of the local football fans. Wouldn't the local fans include the BLACK one's as well?

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. Mods, please lock the thread.

Anyway, what's intriguing to me is that, since the end of the college football season, Manziel seems to have put in the most amount of work out of any of the other potential high round picks.

That should tell you something about his work ethic, which seems to always be questioned.

And this is coming from someone who isn't NEARLY as emotionally invested in all of this either way as some of you seem to be.

Are you speaking for all the black callers? If memory serves Bush was in that draft as well and he was Black.

That's funny. I think Mike Vick and Lebron James are on record with Johnny Manziel endorsements.

They look pretty black to me, but then again I've never seen their parents.

I hope they draft him also, but I would be surprised if it happens. But, you never know.

I'm just a fan, like everyone else here, so I don't have any great knowledge on predicting which QB's will pan out in the end. Even the so called experts get it wrong on a regular basis, so it's really a crapshoot with all these guys.

Since it's impossible to know which of these QB's will be the best, I'm hoping the Texans go with Manziel, just for the added entertainment value. Last season sucked, and I want to have something to get excited about for the upcoming season. Bortles may end up being a good QB, but not many people will be excited if he's the first player selected in the draft.

Johnny looked very smooth out there today. I went back and watched Bridgewater's pro day, and there is no comparison. I don't see the Texans picking Bridgewater. Now watch them pick Bridgewater and surprise everyone.

Great point. I don't see why race is even involved with this conversation. It's about if JFF is worth the 1st pick and personally I don't see him or any of the other qb's black or white being worth the number 1 pick. None of them are ready to start and are not significantly better than the qb's available in the later rounds.
