Seriously some of you must be from Dallas with your anti-Luby's hate. The fried fish is like a golden plank of heaven. And to this day, they still have the best tartar sauce I've ever had. Luby's is the **** and deserves your ******* respect!

My problem with Lubys is their prices are so high now I can just go to a regular restaurant to eat and get better food.

    Cafeteria food should be cheap.

This. Their quality went totally downhill after the Pappas bought them.

I've had Luby's before when in a pinch on the road or what not, and it's not bad. Like others have mentioned, the fried fish is somewhat edible and I actually like their pie. But it's really over-priced for a cafeteria.

Anyone remember Wyatt's from back in the day? That was a pretty good cafeteria.

And speaking of old ladies in aprons refilling your tea, what ever happened to Grandy's? Their rolls were top notch...TOP NOTCH.

I think Grandy's is everywhere in Texas but Houston for some reason. I have seen it in other cities in the state. Does anyone remember Piccadilly? I remember going there when I was a kid but I can't recall what the food was like though.

Picadilly in Memorial City Mall (or was it Town & Country?) was awesome.

Not a cafeteria, but Circus restaurant on Westheimer was possibly the greatest place to eat as a kid.

As a kid I used to LOVE Wyatts on Sunday after church. Was also a fan of Grandy's and the huge rolls. Luby's, I haven't been there in 10 years or so and have no intention too. That last time it made me ill, the food wasn't edible at all. There are just to many good places to eat around my area for me to even think about going there again.

There was a time I kind of developed a paranoia eating at these cafeteria places after that shooting at the one in Tyler, Texas a while back. I think there may have been shootings at a few of them and quite a few people died.

But, obviously, could happen at any restaurant.

Where do the Luby's haters go to get fried okra? It's a mystery.

On the real, though, Luby's should not start expecting us to tip the busboys. Come on. Bring back the iced tea lady. That was, is, and ever shall be all you need at freaking Luby's.

The prices are high, but I keep going back. I didn't like the place as a kid but now I get the cravings.

cause more folks can't appreciate classic homestyle American food.... instead rather go with ethnic and exotic stuff.

An over sized fish stick, a scoop of mashed potatoes and some fried okra shouldn't cost $11.00 after tax.

I occasionally eat it and don't complain... but yeah for what it is it's over priced.
