I forgot McNair is a South Carolina alum... Im more certain now that Clowney will be the pick and the Texans will take a QB in round 2 or 3, specially with BO'B and Rick Smith getting fans ready with all the "there are 10 qbs in the draft that are very close to each other" talk. I want Derek Carr though. Oops.
Likewise, Just don't get why people need to fabricate stuff to push an agenda. I get it, you like Clowney. He is indeed the best prospect in the class The qb position means much more than a DE, Bridgewater is THAT qb
It really does seem obvious, the best player in the draft just so happens to be from the owner's alma mater the year the team gets the #1 pick in the draft....in a year with no legit top tier QB prospects....in a year with a lot of depth at the QB position.....in a year where the defense is full of holes and couldn't generate a pass rush without blitzing the year before.
LOL, "fabricate stuff" like when you are making faulty comparisons between the QB prospect you are pushing this year and HOFers? Like when you were pushing the completely hilarious notion that Teddy Bridgewater was going to run a 4.5 at the combine? Like when you were pushing the notion that Teddy Bridgewater had a strong arm? Since the very beginning you have been inventing things that have been shown false about your new found deity.
I guess, thats why I was comparing him to a 3rd round Joe. Obvious HOF can't miss qb back in 1979 He has average to above average arm, he will be fine I never said he would, I said maybe or its a possibility Bobby be good
But it was never a possibility....that's my point. I told you he'd run a high 4.7 40 time (my exact prediction was 4.75), you thought he'd run a 4.5 and he ran a 4.78. I brought up his small hands and reliance on gloves, you said it wasn't true.....it was. You predicted he'd showcase a cannon for an arm at his pro day, I suggested that there was no way that would happen.....and it didn't. My point is that I know your guy pretty well. Is the reason that you keep making things up about him because you know he's unworthy of a top draft pick, or do you just truly not know any better? We both keep making predictions about him and mine keep coming true and yours seem to be based in fantasy....
None of it has to do with play on the field. Fact of the matter is Ill probably be right this time next year and serving you crow by the bushel
You cannot believe ANYTHING you hear regarding the draft until one of two things happens: 1) that the Texans have signed a contract with a certain player before the draft, or 2) the players name is called on draft day.
Tell me about it. You realize most here have been talking about the draft since week 9, if not before that?! {They were 2-5, had a bye week then faced the Colts week 9, and some wanted to wait to see if they would win that game {somehow turn the season around?} before throwing in the towel on the season, ha.}
I'm still of the opinion that if the Texans don't draft a QB at #1 (or trade down and take one there), that I don't want them taking one in Round 2 and possibly not at all. Not unless one of the top 3 falls to the 2nd round as Bucky Brooks has happening in his latest mock (ain't happening). I've brought the point up before, but if you think the success rate of first round QBs is bad, it gets even worse the deeper you get into the draft. In the last 15 years you only have 3 QBs (Andy Dalton, Colin Kaepernick, Drew Brees) who have done ANYTHING in the league. The odds aren't good. Statistically, if we take a QB after the first, they probably won't pan out. They could. They might. But they probably won't. To be sure, the odds of hitting on a QB in the first aren't great either. Maybe 40% of first round QBs pan out, though the success rate of the first QB taken is better at around 50%. But that's still a hell of a lot better than trying to draft one after that. If they're not confident in any of the Top 3 being a franchise guy and decide to wait, it's doubtful that anybody chosen in the 2nd or later will end up being a franchise guy. And if that guy does exist, it's still unlikely he's the guy you end up picking. You're taking a chance. And I guess some people are OK taking a chance in the 2nd round, but I'm not. Maybe you take a chance on a guy in the 3rd because the odds there are just as good as in the 2nd. Also, I think people may be overestimating the number of QBs who'll be gone by the 3rd. The average number of QB's taken in the first 2 rounds is about 5, the highest in recent history being 6 in 2011. Bridgewater, Bortles, Manziel, and probably Carr will be gone. After that, maybe only one other guy. I'd rather take McCarron or Mettenberger in the 3rd than Garoppolo in the 2nd. In all likelihood, none of those guys does anything, but you can at least get another starter at #33 if you forgo QB in the 2nd.
What up peeps? New to this board, but have been following the discussions for years. I am excited about this draft and just realized we have 11 picks this year. I believe we should be safe and consider some other options with this many picks. None of the projected first round QBs are a crap shoot, and I believe that there are a few dark horses in this years draft that we could capitalize on. I think with this many picks we should get the best pick based on need and of value. I am one who thinks Case could come back this year and perform better if we picked up Wilfork and drafted Greg Robinson. I also feel that we can consider a trade down more easily with 11 picks and bring the heat by draft Sammy Watkins, to pair with Hopkins, the Clemson attack. With a good offensive line Case will be able to solidify his role, and have a crazy receiver core to chunk that ball down the field. I could go on but I like these two options. Greg Robinson 1st, Aj McCarron 2nd or 3rd Sammy Watkins 1st 3Garoppolo 6th Conor Shaw
It's funny, when one coach says something about Clowney is "okay" it got translated as "poor" and caused a ton of really lazy analysis and BS saying he had a poor work ethic, how are we supposed to translate "decent"?
McCarron has more upside I feel than any other QB in this draft. 2 National Championships and has the most collegiate experience, playing in the SEC, and always being the team to beat. If O'brien is the cadillac of QB coaches, there is no reason Aj could not polish into a great franchise QB. Greg Robinson will be a force from his rookie season, until his 15 season in the NFL.
