So, what's the appeal of Scal?

Jackson's a known prick, he does these shenanigans. Didn't he try to overtake Stockton with his time in Utah?

Played under Thibs and Doc, probably is actually good at relating to players and definitely picked up more knowledge from those two than people give credit for.

It's not just that simple though, of course mgt will run it by the coach but you only know you don't like the guy after you've already started working together, when mgt asked him if he was ok with the hiring, Jackson probably didn't know he wouldn't like the guy so he said ok.

Also there are a ton more head coaches than head coaching gigs. If Mark Jackson laid down the law and dared them to fire him, they might just do that. He's not irreplaceable, and they might have actually fired him anyway, they're just waiting for his contract to run out before they replace him.

As for Brian Scalabrine, we don't know what kind of coach he'll become just because he was a bit of a joke, IIRC Phil Jackson and Rick Adelman were just roleplayers as well when they were still playing. What we do know is that he was really smart on the court, and he was like by both fans, players and coaching staff because of his personality, smarts and knack for doing that one good play which stuck to your mind. Those qualities might just translate when he starts coaching.

    His players love him

I'm not sure about the 2nd statement. But like I said earlier, Golden State was going absolutely nowhere before Jackson. He made them revelant and now he's scumbag? Doesn't make a ton of sense

    Semantics......

Usually the GM will suggest or discuss it with the HC, and bring on the assistant unless there is an objection.... there are some exceptions, the Bulls didn't bring back their HC's top assistant and didn't bother to tell their HC.. and THAT was clearly a power play.

That is your perception.... ownership may look at it and say the Warriors became relevant when Curry, Thompson, Bogut and Lee were healthy and playing together.

To the ones that said the Warriors weren't going anywhere before Jackson came aboard, there's a few...actually..many reasons why the Warriors succeed last year.

    1. Curry stayed healthy
    2. Klay became a starter and pretty good SG
    3. David Lee stayed healthy and got back to his old Knick self

I still think Jackson can't coach worth a damn.

Jackson is a garbage coach and a D bag.

He has a solid talented team handed to him and he still can't do crap. He has an inflated ego and I'd like to see him out of this league ASAP.

My guess is the players have started to go to Scalabrine every time Jackson gets mad at them.

And Jackson being the "we need to be extremely tough" type probably sees that as babying the players.

I really liked Mark Jackson at first, but the longer he's been there, the more I'm realizing they are good because of talent... not coaching. IMO, he needs to be gone after this year.

If that's what they believe, their stupid. There are plenty of team with young talent that suck like Sacramento. Having talent doesn't mean anything if you don't have a coach to inspire them to play hard every night. Basketball 101

So Golden State coached itself last year?

Jackson's first year coaching was right time, right place. They're going backwards right now.

Just like Scott Bonehead "made" the Thunder relevant, right?

    Do the Thunder coach themselves?
