Maybe I'm strange, but I have no urge to taunt someone else based on their sexuality.

And let's be clear. This isn't a matter of you simply being allowed to ridicule others. You're also demanding that this be quietly tolerated by the people who are the object of ridicule.

Why even post it? What point are you trying to make? Does Jason Collins look like the San Francisco caricature you posted?

God forbid someone comment about my sexuality... I might just have to make a big deal about being referred to as a straight man. I mean I should have equal rights, right? Or is equal rights reserved for minority groups?

LosPollosHermanos should not be penalized, he had a right to free speech and his speech food not contain hate speech.

Your point is asinine. By definition, those without equal rights are seeking those you already enjoy yourself.

Whoa, big word for someone of your impairment. My point is sound, if you are truly seeking equal treatment then you should have no qualms with a majority group getting treated the same way as you.

However, you probably prefer to get special treatment or raise awareness for something you want to fight for. That's what American history has told you, hasn't it?
So I can't fight for what I desire, because you fight for what you desire? That is asinine. I have equal opportunity to fight for what I want to fight for and even though I'm in the majority I will maintain that I want equal rights as well and you have no argument that can fight that desire, do you?

It's basketball, I'd say get over it. If it's that serious where you're that offended then handle it like a man. No reason to make a spectacle in the media

A slip of the keyboard, my mistake. Sometimes the mind races. Yes, "asinine" is a big word. "Nonsensical" was probably a better way to describe your post and it certainly fits your follow up.

What "special rights" is Jason Collins seeking? You keep mentioning an abstract with no specifics.

I really don't get the reactions in this thread at all. It's obvious Collins was ASKED if anyone made negative comments, he says "Just one knucklehead", GOES OUT OF HIS WAY to dismiss it as nothing, acknowledging how that vast majority of those he's interacted with have been positive, and yet somehow HE'S the one making a big deal out of this?

Ditto. Though its not that surprising that some people will find any excuse to attack or mock him, because they have an aversion to what he represents.

Excellent post, AstroRocket. Far superior to those by some of the knuckle draggers here. Bigotry isn't funny, except for people who are either ignorant, stupid, or simply bigoted themselves. And Jesus Christ, can the loon who posted that bigoted cartoon spoiler the damn thing? Thanks in advance.

Taunting someone else at a personal level is not basketball. Some players may do this to get a psychological edge over their opponents, but its no more part of the game than flopping or using various dirty tactics when refs aren't looking.

Some of the ignorance in this thread is appalling.

Just shows you despite how far we have come in terms of tolerance, there is still a long way to go.
