Even if this is tongue and cheek, I have a hard time with this. Lin is a GREAT kid with a big heart and great team attitude, he gives back to the community and is unselfish both on and off the court. You...or anyone HATES that??? You should be a LF(fan)H not a LOH. That would make sense to me.
Hardens 15.4 TOV% and Howard's 17.5 TOV% are both lower than Lins 19.0% For as ball dominant as Harden is I don't think his turnover % is that bad. It would be nice if he dropped a little but it's not out of control by any means. Howard, like Lin, I would say is a bit too high. For reference on other ball dominant wings... Westbrook 16.8% Curry 16.4% Wade 15.2% Dragic 14.5% Lebron 14.4% Paul 12.7% George 12.5% Durant 12.4%
It is an excuse to say that Lin's TOV is okay because Harden and Howard also turn the ball over. Thank you for admitting so.
Man, I thought it is way too obvious, so I did not reply you. What's kind of potential assists lead to FT? Of course, close to rim passes lead to FT much more than long 2 or 3 passes. SportVU do not have total Points by assisted FT, but it does have the number of assisted FT ( count when at least 1 free throw made during the FT shooting), Lin's assisted FT (0.6) per potential assist is also among highest if not No.1. If you consider assisted FT, it will only favor Lin's case.
No doubt. But like the other LOF pointed out : when you will consider the potential quality of the assist, you also need to consider "the potential quality of the TO". In Howard's case, I would say about 80% of his TO are dead ball TO, its mostly offensive fouls or things like travelling down the post. These are the less harmful TO as it will actually give the Rockets time to get back and reset their defense. In Harden and Lin's case, they the guards, and most of the times, their TO can directly be turned into points for the other teams, these are bad TO. By considering Harden is a much superior offensive player than Lin, I would say Harden probably will have about 20% or more of his TO coming from offensive fouls - which is less harmful because these are dead ball TO. That means Lin's TO is actually much harmful than the number you are seeing now.
Look I try not to **** on people who put alot of effort into things, but that model is so theoretical and takes so many assumption it is mostly worthless. There are far simpler measurements of how effective someone is on the court and they confirm what we already know: Lin is a mediocre basketball player.
Those are decent points, but I feel like Lin is getting better at the type of TO's. I've noticed he's not quite as trusting with Asik anymore. He's not throwing anything away from Omer's body as much.
Did you see the one he threw at him last night? Crazy globetrotter pass that Asik caught with his cheek and forearm. Turned into a jump ball that Asik thankfully won. Poor Omer, always on the wrong end of those types of plays.
Finally someone who actually judges Lin as a basketball player and not cause he has a vendetta agains 17 year old fanboys Lin is a decent scorer/attacking guards when he's in the right mindset but he'll continue to be an average player until he's able to curtail some of his glaring weaknesses
It's freaking unbelievable how many time he jumps and spazzes out not knowing what to do. Come on dude you should be repeating this in your head over and over when you have the ball.
He turns into a scrub against good teams... has yet to show up against Clips, Miami, OKC. Why Beverley, why
McHale did Lin a favor by putting Parsons on him yet he still is giving squat on offense. If Bev was healthy, McHale wouldn't have felt the need to screw up the defense..he would've allowed Bev to play him 1 on 1.
Like I said, he is a mental midget who plays scrub like when faced with adversity or good teams for the most part. This 1st half display by Lin was worse than a joke.
