Larger portions given for each meal by comparison to say the UK. I spent a week there in early Feb. and lost weight despite drinking all day and night. Here we live to eat; there they eat to live. We go out to eat and make it an event but there they do the same for drinking. Food is an afterthought for those folks, and it taste very very bland. No spices or anything. My conclusion is that Americans are literally FOS!!
Never been to the UK, but my experience in France and Italy is that dining is an event and is certainly not an afterthought. No blandness to the food in those two countries.
I would bet that those 2 countries have food that is out of this world! I spoke to one Italian while in the UK and we both had a laugh about the ****ty food in the UK!
I think there are a lot of fat people in American and there are also a lot of thin people in America.
My wife did a London/Paris trip a number of years ago and was very happy she visited the UK first because the food was so bad there compared to Paris.
This is true. I also think there are a lot of smart people in America and there are also a lot of stupid people in America.
cheap processed food that is too damn convenient to heat up that tastes good leads to either diabetes or cancer. on top of that is most of our lazy culture. e.g: instead walking two blocks to the store, wed rather drive to go get some damn nachos and a 84oz fountain drink. its just a bad combination.
Yes, a large amount of Americans are fat. And it's mainly because foods like chesseburgers, pizza, french fries, fried chicken, steak, pasta, etc... Taste really good.
I'm not fat. That's all that ****ing matters. I'll worry about my own ****, y'all go play single, middle-aged cat lady.
Cuz most are lazy - they'd rather sit around on their IPad and TV all day doing nothing and then order a bug pizza using discount coupons and a gallon of pop.
Most posters have already nailed it. Too much and easy availability to cheap unhealthy food with too much of a sedentary lifestyle. In Northern Ireland they eat a lot of unhealthy food and drink a lot of beer yet obesity isn't as bad of a problem there. Singaporeans and people in Hong Kong they eat a lot of fried rich foods but also don't have the same obesity problems as here. A few posters have noted that there are a lot of fit people in the US. Given we are a population of close to 400 million that should be expected there will be but if you look at who are fit in the US it tends to skew towards the more affluent while obesity is a big problem among the poor. Further fitness in the US is almost a cultural thing and there is something of a fitness elite of people who define their lives by fitness and many who take it to extremes. We have a society of tough mudders and ultra marathoners but also of 400 lb who have to ride Rascals just to get around grocery stores.
i've heard from many in europe complain that american tourists (in general) are obese, ugly, and shabbily dressed. at the beach in monterosso last summer, this older italian man in the neighboring cabana eloquently explained to me that the german tourists there could also be obese and ugly, but not typically poorly dressed. and the russians could be obese and not that well-dressed, but not usually ugly. however when he saw all 3 traits he always knew it was an american. his girl (mistress?) who was about 25yrs younger than him then got all pissed off telling him to stop looking at russian girls and why he didn't think they were ugly
We see all the hate da1 gets for his transportation threads. American's are fat but especially Texans. All the exercise they want is the 10 feet from their front door to the car.
cuz most people just don't give a *** aren't like 1/6 people on foodstamps too? since the govt doesn't subsidize fruits and veggies people are gonna get what they can which is pre-packaged boxed crap [subsidized corn, wheat & sugar]
