Clowney is at the Rockets game in Charlotte right now. I dunno about anyone else, but I still feel like Bob McNair has a heavy hand in controlling the attitude of the team. That means, again, more attention paid to character than on most teams. And I don't mean football character, I'm talkin' about genteel-ity. Applied to this situation I also think we are hyping up Clowney to tempt a team to trade with us. Look at an interview of Mack and tell me that we wouldn't value Mack more than Clowney. Clowney just doesn't look like he would leave a good impression on McNair. So, if we were able to get 4 and 26 straight up for 1, I think that would be the trade we are aiming primarily for. At 4 you would assume that Clowney, one QB, and one wild card (either Watkins, Robinson, or Matthews) get taken. That would leave us with a high probability of taking Mack there if it's who we're going for. Mack + another late first rounder would be a coup for this franchise. If we don't want any of the top QB's. At this point I don't care; BO'B has enough credibility around him to earn our trust, at least for this year. The only guys I don't want pretty much are Bortles (worst) and Manziel (bad, but at least he performed in college against the best competition).
Oddball ending to that interview if he wants to convince everybody that he loves and takes football seriously, no? And I'm somebody that wants them to draft him.
i think thats where im at with it.. i have no problems with clowney, i really like teddy but i understand if they pass on him. bortles #1 overall would be a major let down..
A lady I used to know through work has a son that is eligible for the draft. He's a guard. Would have been drafted probably somewhere from the fifth to seventh round, but he broke his leg in October and missed most of the season. I don't even think he could participate in his pro day. It would be so awesome if he were Mr. Irrelevant, but it won't happen. I used to talk to her about football camps and things she was sending him to when he was in high school. Just would be cool to me. I remember the one time I saw her at Little Caesar's picking up a hot and ready for him for his after practice snack. She was going home to cook dinner for him after she left there. BTW, I think I'm in the Clowney, Bridgewater, or Mack camp. Although I am intrigued by Bortles. I'm a bit leery of Clowney, although I think his potential is far greater than his bust potential, and I think you may have to pick him and forget all the negatives.
Clowney makes Dwight look small smh <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Dwight Howard had a special visitor in the locker room after the game - @<a href="https://twitter.com/clownejd">clownejd</a> <a href="http://t.co/YxV7ILKMqX" title="http://twitter.com/HoustonRockets/status/448277828769816577/photo/1" org_href="http://twitter.com/HoustonRockets/status/448277828769816577/photo/1">pic.twitter.com/YxV7ILKMqX</a></p>— Houston Rockets (@HoustonRockets) <a href="https://twitter.com/HoustonRockets/status/448277828769816577" data-datetime="2014-03-24T20:58:57+00:00">March 24, 2014</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Manziel is going to impress at his pro day to get back in the mix and his full gruden camp airs on the same day too.
Taking clowney first is a risk not for all the resins you all think though. Let's say we take clowney first than obviously we would want a QB at 2.1 but what if a stud defensive player drops and is avaiable Pryor or Mosley or nix we would seriously pass on those players. I don't think so so I think it should be QB first then best defensive player at 2.1
I think a pro day can confirm what a GM & Coach are already leaning towards, to push them over the edge. If B Ob is leaning towards Bortles, a poor performance by Manziel might clinch it. These QBs know their draft position is on the line, millions are a stake, so there is mental pressure, and everyone wants to see how they handle it.
I was for this at first, but now i feel one of the three top QB's will fall to the 2nd round. If they don't, there are still good QB's in the draft past the second. Guys like Boyd, Garropolo, Wales, Mettenburger, Joseph and surprisingly the tallest and fastest QB at the combine, Logan Thomas.
BOB says that there isn't much separation between "10 or 12 guys" at the QB position, if there isn't much separation, a bad pro day (Bridgewater) and a good pro day can cause that separation. Honestly at the end of the day I think O'Brien will still not see all that much separation between his top 5 or 6 QB prospects which will ensure he doesn't reach on one in the first round.
