You do NOT want to be calorie restricting at your age. Max out your height, avoid the bad foods which it sounds like you're doing, and stay active. That baby fat will shed itself soon enough.

    Bumping this up.

Anyone know where I can do some bleachers or stairs running near Medical Center/Kirby/Galleria/Downtown?
I'm guessing Rice University would be a good option, but I'm not really sure how to gain access.

Some people point out that I look bigger ever since starting to workout (5 months) - however, I've lost some body fat / weight (around 5-8 lbs) , but some people think I look fatter? How does that make sense? I weigh less than before and I built some (albeit probably a small amount) muscle.

Because some people look at bulk and not the body composition. Unless they have seen you shirtless, before and after, they'll just assume you look bigger because of fat.

Getting engaged in a couple of months. Need to get on the w/o and nutrition grind. Think I'm going to start Insanity after this next round of exams.

Lost just a few pounds (2) in the past 2 weeks, and my bench press has regressed significantly. Is this inevitable? I'm a beginner, and was told I could lose fat and gain muscle because of the fact that I'm a beginner. So, I've been on a slow cut recently, and none of my other exercises have regressed aside from the bench press.

No, I've been lifting since November, so 5 months, and I just started eating slightly below maintenance for the past 2-3 weeks and have lost 2-3 lbs in that span. My bench has regressed by a few reps on each of my 3 bench press sets. My diet hasn't changed, I tried taking a week off to rest my chest, and i've been sleeping well.

..maybe that was your weak link and you really needed the extra calories...or youre wasting energy elsewhere that day. Yard work, moving furniture, etc...Maybe your form changed..could be a few different things..maybe just mental

Working out consistently now. Feels good man.

When I first started bench press, I was only doing 85. I'm up to 115 now and it's been 3 weeks and a half

Semi-confessional for the workout thread lol. I don't drink often anymore, but for various reasons I've had 3-day benders every weekend for the past few weeks. Diet has fallen completely off track (eating anything and everything), went from working out 6 days/wk to 3 days/wk. At first the struggle was real, but I recently realized my strength across all lifts has actually INCREASED a good amount due to more calories/rest. I mean, sure, I've gained ~5 lbs too, so I'm just gonna rationalize this month as a 'mini-bulk' and get back to cutting in April after this weekend's upcoming bender

Lmao. I've actually been doing the same thing. But my lifts have NOT gone up at all. And in reality I just feel tired and sluggish. Sometimes you gotta just go out and live it up. I think spring break time really did me in.

But all the heavenly blessed tanned beauties doe.

    Well worth.

I'm on the fast track to making up for my heathen ways though. Already back in the zone and focused. I'll pray for your safety. :p

Currently 20 lbs overweight. Will lose it all within 2 weeks from swimming and better eating habits before bed. I'm horrible at eating then going to sleep. Once the weight is gone, will lift weights and continue better diet and exercise. Don't mind extra weight if it's muscle. Been slacking too long. Cant' fit my most of my player-ass wardrobe.

If you're lifting to gain muscle, then you shouldn't be losing weight, at least not at your size, from what I remember. Eat more and start looking to increase the weight, but safely of course. The belly will take care of itself, just don't add like a billion calories at once. Increase progressively.
