And those people all get paid more by their employers to deal with that crap. The restaurant industry gets you cheaper food by basically letting you pay the waitstaff. If you choose not to, that's certainly your right, but you and everyone else knows that this is the way the economics of restaurants in the US are set up.
Take the Philadelphia 76ers for instance. These sorry excuse for an NBA team are on a 24 game losing streak. What do they get in return? top muta****** pick in the NBA draft, same logic with tipping. Open and shut case, I win this one CF.
do i still have to tip 20% for buffet? I was at hugos earlier today..he did bring me 2 forks and some water..
I always tip about 15-20% at sit down restaurants. If I am grabbing something like chipotle from the counter, I tend to not tip
Someone please explain this to me. I personally wish they would just raise the prices of food to give the waiters and other staff a proper wage. I always tip well, but I am not a fan of it, especially for reasons like the one above.
im sorry, are we supposed to be earning a living as a waiter? grow the **** up, its a job anyone could do and dont go home thinking the industry would stop bc you are such a badass at bringing someone food. this **** right here is why america is going downhill. entitled asses think they deserve good money because they deal with assholes? lol, go find a real job and see how it goes there. id rather go give my tips to the guys that are working their asses off in the sun or actually doing manual labor. if a 16 year old snot nose kid can replace you in your job, you dont deserve ****. i do get tired of throwing extra money on the tip line bc i feel bad for your sorry ass, but why am i working hard to just hand my money over? ive worked the service industry and i did well bc my customer service was top notch. all i see now are entitled little hipsters with liberal art degrees thinking they deserve everything. peace out and i ALWAYS doube tax.
You do know there are others less fortunate, right? Which goes back to what I was saying about bums asking for change on the street. CF I thought I won this argument already?
Ummm... Don't go out to eat then? Cook at home, or hire a personal chef since you have a "real job" and are so wealthy.
bums on the street dont phase me, they have had their chances and i guess im the only one tired of the pity parties. i just saw some 30ish white guy with working arms and legs begging for money. waste of space. smh
lol, is that all you can come up with? since its the same reply that every waiter is giving, how about look for a better job or try and better yourself. i cook at home plenty and pretty darn good at it too, thanks. im just glad im not "slaving" away for the man bringing food to people.
The difference is that retail/fast food workers deal with an a-hole for about 2 minutes then move on to the next person. Waiters possibly have to deal with an a-hole for a good hour before they finally leave.
Waiters deal with you over the span of an hour... not for an hour. At most they interact with you for 10 minutes during that hour, unless you're talking about the really high end restaurants where they put a napkin in your lap, change out your plates, and refill your glass after every 2-3 sips. Most restaurants are not even close to that. And yes, I waited tables for 2.5 years and still don't like the concept. DudeWah summed up my perspective very well. I tip very well, normally 20+% but I hate the concept.
God help you if you ever have a mental or medical condition that spirals your life out of control and you lose everything. You'll find out how hard it is to get back on your feet with literally nothing.
I dont tip at Chipotle either. I went to Freebirds the other day and used my card and it had a tip line. WTF? If I dont tip chipotle why the hell would I tip Freebirds. If thats the case I might as well start tipping at McDonalds also
