Too early to make that conclusion. However based on games where beard is out and also back in nyk, the offense flows well. So it really depends on his role, minutes and teams/player sets.
That's fine. Let's trade our three best players so Yo-Yo Lin can run the offense and rack up stats. Good idea. In fact, let's fire Morey and install a LOF as GM so that the proper players can be placed around Yo-Yo Lin.
See? These sorts of responses, imo, are worse than the dribble coming from LOFs. The prior quoted statement, while clearly from a fan who likes Lin, was not that inflammatory. If Harden is out or Lin is given the keys to the gate, he tends to do better. He needs a higher usage rate and that go-ahead #1 option long leash to perform at his best. He's not going to get that here in Houston, so that means he either needs to adapt or be moved/contract expires. That's all. The snide remarks are what fan the flames with more vehement LOFs then jumping in on the action and saying even more ridiculous things and LOFH's responding in kind, etc. and we get this thread...
I agree with your response here. I actually initially wrote my comment out as a stand-alone, but quoted you to anchor it (in a sort of referential way). It painted your comment in a worse light than it was intended, so I do apologize for that. You had a number of good disclaimers in your post and I recognize that. As for the comment about me seeing both LOFs and LOHs (or LOFHs, etc. what have you) as mindless idiots...yeah that's about right. I tend to find people who can't think for themselves mindless idiots haha; but I'm also extremely elitist and a cynic irl, so I tend to judge most people too harshly anyways.
Here is a thing that I don't think a lot of LoF's realize or care to realize; Lin is a ROLE PLAYER in this league, unless he is playing ace or primary ball handler for a bad team. Role players don't get to choose their roles. That's a privilege for players that are stars. Role players either sign with teams where they feel their games are best utilized or try to develop into whatever role will give them the most minutes or help the team the most. In the Rockets case, Lin's role is NOT one that plays to his strengths: - Lack of ball handling star on the wing - Primary ball handler and facilitator - Aggressive PnR offense - Top 3 scoring options on the team Now, in a perfect world, Harden plays much more off the ball to save energy and Howard gives up trying to prove his worth in the post so much and set his heart on the PnR (which I really hope the both will do come playoffs time). In a perfect world, Harden will also not get constantly beat on the wing and won't need a constant defensive backup like Beverley either. In this fantasy, yes Lin would be a much better starting PG than Beverley. Unfortunately for Lin, his fans, and sometimes us Rockets fans, reality is harsh and we don't live in dreams. Currently Lin has already been given a role, he is just not very good at it yet. His role is the 6th man and honestly, he doesn't quite grasp what that means yet I think. He needs to realize that when Harden and Howard is sitting, he needs to be that top dog. That means over Parsons, over Beverley, and whatever player is trying to take away his touches. He needs to understand that Parsons typically cannot break down his man 1v1. He needs to understand Beverley definitely cannot do it, neither can our scrubs Garcia and Casspi. He needs to realize that as a 6th man, his ability to score far exceeds his ability to pass and play with that cutthroat mentality. When he does, he plays well and his aggression opens up the D for his passing. Score first, pass later. It would also help if our team was better moving off the ball too. One thing that I do hope will eventually happen is that Asik continues to improve and learns how to catch the damn ball and finish strong, Smith comes back as a hard roller off a harder pick, and D-Mo finally turns on that light bulb in his head and start showing talent instead of glimpses of potential talent. That said, everything still comes down to how Lin will develop as really a SG because the better SG he is when sharing the floor with Harden, the more minutes he will likely see.
We've been subjected to two years of stat cherry picking nonsense and "the offense flows much better with Lin" crap. I'm tired of it. Just get lost already.
Fans are bias, so just quit the hating and stop reading posts about Jeremy Lin lol. I was just making an observation what jlin did in the past on my previous post. I never made any statements whether or not lin should be a main player. I think what mchale is doing is generally on the right path. Lin should stay as a rocket and help them win a championship as a role player. Just like asik. Lin is not perfect, no one is. Most people are probably fans because of his story and nt necessarily his bball skills. Criticizing his bball skills will not change his past.
Haha, add up the views for all the big Lin threads... now THAT equals holy moly  But yeah, you're right.
90% really? There is not another Harden in the league. When Harden is out Lin performs better. 90% of pg's don't play along side Harden. 90% of players don't attack the basket like Lin. So unless you're trying to say if 90% of attacking pgs played for the Rockets and harden got injured they would play better it's a stupid comment. Harden has always been better than Lin but now his game is MVP level and anything that takes the ball away from Harden is a stupid move. So don't get this twisted into Lin should have the ball more. But Lin's game works better when he is attacking and controlling the ball. Only a small percentage of players attack with the ball like Lin. Nowhere near the 90% mark. That's just the way it is.
Please. Harden is not MVP level. When someone out there will bet money that Harden wins MVP then you can say he's at MVP level. Nobody sane out there is going to bet that Harden wins MVP.
Don't be a HOH! j/k i guess people have different definitions what mvp level is. does mvp level means already getting the mvp recognition or is it just being on the mvp discussion qualifies as mvp level?
Do you even read what you are quoting first before replying? The statement "He needs a higher usage rate and that go-ahead #1 option long leash to perform at his best." is meaningless because it applies to 90% or more of the players in this league. Only offensively challenged players would fail to thrive off having a team built around them. I said nothing about Lin playing with Harden in my post.
There is only one player playing better than Harden right now and that's durant. If you want to argue Lebron and maybe even Blake I won't argue with you but I am talking about the way they are playing the game and contributing to wins right now. He is a legitimate MVP candidate so that makes him on that MVP level right now IMO. If you disagree than you are arguing semantics and you can have it.
I disagree that he is a legitimate candidate for MVP. Durant is the MVP, there are no other candidates. I'm not arguing. It's just a fact.
