This will be his second season in a row that's superior to Rose's MVP season. So he has the talent, but he'll need both the narrative and down seasons from the likes of Durant, Lebron, and CP3. Also, Davis if he ever lands on a contender.
Harden was a very good off-the-ball player his first couple of years. But when Eric Maynor went down to an injury two years ago, he stopped playing with energy off the ball and focused on isolating.
I voted yes. Harden has only been staering 2 seasons, so has only just started to show his wares. We knew he was awesome before he came, it was obvious he was a star, he is showing he is more than that! 2 more years at this level and he will be talked about as MVP, and playoff success will help him greatly.
If he continues to shoot like he has been lately, dramatically improves his D and wins at least conference finals, then maybe he has a chance.
I think the reason why rose got his mvp was cuz he carries the bulls. i think they had some kinda analysis that shows how big of a difference it makes to have rose playing vs not playing for bulls. Though I have no idea if the same analysis has been made for harden.
Yes, eventually provided the following things happen: 1) Harden commits himself to playing hard at both ends of the floor. 2) The Rockets make a few deep playoff runs. 3) The Rockets finish with one of(if not the) best records in the league. LeBron is nearing 30 and I don't know how much longer he can carry a team the way he has all these years. Durant is gonna win his first MVP trophy this season, but it may be his last for a while if he doesn't lead OKC to a title soon. And Griffin will never get the award as long as he has Chris Paul on his team to siphon away votes.
I voted yes. Sometimes the league gets tired of giving it to the same guy. Rose, Mailman, etc. LeBron will likely be too old in 3 years. He has plenty wear.
Lebron has yet to show ANY signs of slowing down. In fact, he has gotten better every year and is now conditioning his game to be able to play with or without his out-of-this-world athleticism. I mean, even an 80 percent athletic Lebron is still going to be more athletic than almost any player he goes up against. With that being said, I say that Harden has as good of a chance as anyone in the league to win an MVP not named Lebron or Durant over the next 5 years.
James Harden could definitely win an MVP just because of how good of a play maker he is. He can create for himself and others, which is the most valuable skill in the league.
game up to where he averages 28/29 and 7 and 6? While it's tough to decide if he ever actually will win MVP, don't just discount it cause there's KD and LBJ. He definitely has the potential to bring his game up to that level
Like others have said not with Durant in the league I mean he just scored 51 and hit a game winner and Durant does that on a daily basis. Durant his so many clutch shots it's almost automatic. I think harden is defiantly underated though for sure. Even in nba2k14 he's rated 87 but yet wade is in the 90"s and harden is 5 on the MVP ladder and one of the only players to get stats like Jordan and is constantly scoring in the 25+ and up range and not to mention several clutch shots and 4th quater take overs.
