I know you were because I read some of your posts before. But some of this Asian talk is borderline racism. Maybe it flies under the radar but if you had said can a black man be handsome would that have been acceptable. Racism is everywhere including this board. It would be easy to believe some of Lin's haters are motivated by it. Not pointing fingers at anyone just questioning Asian talk of any kind in a Jeremy Lin is a joke thread.
U gotta be f***ing kidding me. What do you think would happen if someone made a comment like "Can black/white guys even be handsome??" The whole board would label that person as a racist. People aren't afraid to say anything racist against Asians because if its something about Asians its not racist, its just a "joke". GTFO
Calm down and this is not the case. What he said was dumb. Stop generalizing everybody together. There is no war against Asians. Especially not on this board when one of the greatest players to play for Rockets was Asian.
Lol. Trust me I'm calm. But tell me if what I said was true about how people on this board would react if he said this about a black person. White people are the majority in the USA so they'll hardly experience racism. Black people while they're a minority, people are very sensitive when it comes to saying things about them for obvious reasons. U can't be that naive and pretend like racism against Asians isn't more "common" or "acceptable" Even if that person isn't racist himself it is so much easier for him/her to get away with a racist comment about an Asian because they can always get away with saying it's a joke.
That's like saying I'm not racist, I have black friends! Haha obviously one can't generalize, but looking only at that one comment, yeah kinda racist (I mean peleincubus). I personally as an Asian don't care as I've never believed in a world so PC we can't even joke anymore. Shoot, today even breathing on a topic on race gets you labeled, much to the detriment of healthy discussion at times. Ah but that's neither here nor there. I imagine what is most troubling to some Asians is not so much the comment itself but rather the lack of recognition by a majority of others that such a comment is inappropriate.
What a terrible argument. That's like saying Hollywood stopped being racist in the 1930s when they gave an Academy Award to Hattie McDaniel. Or that Pakistan isn't sexist because Benazir Bhutto was Prime Minister once. Not saying that the Rockets or their fans are racist. But one exceptional case doesn't give you a perpetual shield for all eternity. Anyway, it's pretty sad when non-Asian guys feel the need to make themselves feel better by bashing Asian guys. For what it's worthy, my very pretty European g/f thinks that I am quite handsome.
I will agree with the fact that people can make fun of Asians than other groups and my gripe was this sentence, People aren't afraid to say anything racist against Asians because if its something about Asians its not racist, its just a "joke". GTFO Maybe I took it wrong but it sounds like your implying that the thread itself is based on his race rather his performance. My thought on it was that just because a couple of people are racist doesn't mean everybody that is not happy with Jeremy is racist. My argument was the fact that there a countless threads of Yao's greatness based on his performance not his race. Didn't come through with what I wrote but that is what I meant. My problem was the bolded part of his sentence as if there is a witch hunt against Jeremy because he is Asian. Or that if somebody makes a joke about Jeremy or doesn't like him then they are racist. I probably took what he wrote wrong so it's all good, but I've seen countless of posts of people blaming the fact that he is Asian for his backlash, when Yao being Asian himself is seen as one of the greatest and his race had nothing to do with it.
Well said. I'm hispanic but look white. I got told a beaner joke at a bar just a few years back. My experience is if the hate is to dispropotionate to the action chances are there is something deeper going on. I find to much hate for Lin fans on this board. When TMac came to the Rockets a lot of his fans followed over but there was no hate for them. People say how can we hate Asians when we love Yao. But how quickly they forget. There was a lot of hate for Yao on here and he was one of the kindest Rockets ever. There is definitely a double standard. People like Dei think it is okay to say Jeremy is a joke and he comes with such a ****ty fan base. But who is his fan base? Mostly proud Asians who are happy to see one of their own succeed. Maybe he is not a racist but it is such a stupid thing to say and sounds racist. If I said Jordan Hamilton has a ****ty fanbase the LA hood in Crenshaw people would scream and they should. At least Peleincubus said he was joking. Dei called all Lin's fans which he knows are 99-1 Asian, ****ty. No apologies from him because he is not in the least sorry and if he could get away with it would call them worst. He is skirting around the edge of racism. I agree with yu, everyone is so politically correct so we can't joke about anything. For me I don't give a **** about a joke just the intent of the words. Jeremy screws up at times. He deserves criticism. But it doesn't deserve to be personal. That's my two cents
Yao was sh it all over this board by a lot of people who seemed to be racist to me. And only know your intent not anyone else's. You can't speak for people who say he has a ****ty fan base. I find that offensive and I am not Asian or a so called LOF.
Take it offensively. There are tons of posts that call out his play. Not his race. Yet when someone talks out against him they all get bunched in together with people who don't like him due to race.
You are omitting a huge factor in that TMac came here as one of the NBA's best players and Yao quickly developed into a star and a well loved figure in Houston. I can only speak for myself but I never made a single negative comment about Mac or Yao's fan base as a whole. Only certain posters. I didn't think either fan base was even close to as delusional as Lin's. At least their fanaticism was justified by their favorite players on court play. It's tolerable at that point because they were performing for the Rockets at an extremely high level. Lin is what he is. A backup PG right now and a potential starter on a bad team. He's not going to have the same leash with fans. Shane Battier is a great guy and he got bashed on here. I don't see you crusading in any other thread where McHale and Morey are being called racists. You don't think that some of the hate for Harden, D12 and Bev from LOFs and others doesn't stem from some racism too? Contrary to who it appears I don't dislike Lin the person. I dislike him as a PG for our team and I dislike his delusional fan base. Has nothing to do with him being Asian. He could be red or blue for all I care and my opinion on him or his fan base wouldn't be effected in the least bit.
Well, I know at least one person who does. That would be the guy who tried to fight me over words on the internet. Caps lock is also a sure sign of anger. Your blood pressure must be through the roof. I would be at all shocked if you had a stroke mid sentence
Cry to Clutch again? What would I cry to Clutch about in the first place? I want you to keep posting here. It's hilarious seeing you throw a fit
