what do you think the reaction would be if a white player threw a racial slur around as trash talk?

For God's sake, nobody cares. He's a scrub and the only reason anyone knows his name is because he's shoving his sexuality in everyone's faces.

Anyone who thinks this is an actual newsworthy story needs to have their head examined.

You must not follow basketball very much.

There are a million news stories promoted by the sports media that are less important than this one.

This idea that its perfectly OK to ridicule people on the basis of their sexuality is so ingrained in so many. Its unfortunate that people taking any stance against this, particularly when they are the target of that ridicule, it is considered "whining". Whatever Collins said in this interview is pretty tame, and there's nothing whiny about it. He's just acknowledging what his experience has been thus far as the first publicly gay NBA athlete. How dare he talk about this?!

C'mon Collins, you knew this would come eventually. Its called nba trash talk. If guys wives are not off limits then you know what to expect. Why even comment on this? Let's not make more of a circus of you're sexual preference than it's already become. Just play basketball bro

What is a more professional term for a homophobic bully, in your view?

So you'd also same the same thing if a player publicly acknowledged that an opposing player made crude remarks about his wife? You'd criticize him for not keeping that to himself?

He could've said "kid" then said "guy has some growing up to do".

There are certainly worse terms than knucklehead, but he said it twice. Then talked about how professional he was. LOL

No big deal either way though.. it was just funny to me.

So cause he is gay, he gets special treatment, no one can trash talk him? Suck it up (no pun intended or was it?) and dish out a hard foul.

I would call him all sorts of names too! It's called trash talking. Just like Kevin Garnett got underneath Carmelo's skin about the "Honey nut cheerio's" talk.

I would most definitely call that gay twin all sorts of names just to gain a competitive advantage. And it obviously working. I would nickname him "Flame'n Jaimen"

So if someone says "Lets go white boy!!" is that crossing the line?

Are you so desperate to ridicule people that this is an actual issue for you?
