Well, we saw Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel and loved it, except for one thing, which knocked it down half a point. I'm not saying what that one thing was, because I don't want to spoil the flick for anyone else. 8.5/10
End of Watch - 8/10 Really enjoyed this. I could have done without the shakey-cam for this one, but it was very tense and exciting, the acting was good, and it had Anna Kendrick in it.
4/10 Saw this a few days ago. It had it's moments but by the end I was grateful it was over. The story was not that interesting and like Monuments Men, a lot of acting talent wasted.
Just saw grand Budapest hotel Loved it. Not as good as moonrise kingdom but still one of my favs from Wes anderson
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - 7.5/10 Enjoyed it more than the first. The first one took me a while for me to warm up to it (gave it like a 5-ish). Jennifer Lawrence just doesn't look as hot in these movies. Still fappable, but could be so much more. Anyone who read the book, so will Katnis fall in love with her midget friend in the end and leave Thor's little brother?
Grand Budapest Hotel - 7.5/10. Better than Moonrise Kingdom. But nowhere near as good as Royal Tenenbaums.
I feel like there is so little consensus on Anderson's movies. Everyone likes each and every one of them but the favorites are across the board. With that said, this one was one my favorites. I was drinking during it so perhaps that helped as well.
I felt like Gravity would have really sucked badly without the 3D. With the 3D, it felt like a ride at Disney World. The story and action set pieces were absurd, though.
3/10 is a low score for Gravity but that Movie was supremely overrated. Moon was a MUCH better sci-fi film involving a single actor.
Just watched Grave of the Fireflies for the first time. ****ing A! Should have not watched it. Hearing how it's one of the best animated movie and saddest movie of all time, I wanted to see it for myself. I thought I could handle it. I couldn't. So ****ing sad. I'm just mad at the older brother. Should have watched Frozen to something. Too sad for me to rate it.
I wouldn't say it's supremely overrated at all. Nobody ever says anything overly great about the story, characters, etc. The reason it's so highly thought of is the directing and special effects, which were some of the greatest ever. But it's all about what you expected going in, I guess.
Gravity has a 97% on RT with an average rating of 9/10, so I'd say it's pretty overrated (it's far from a 3/10 though).
