I love Beverley....in fact he's my favorite player. The non stop hustle...give it your all attitude. However..I agree to this completely. It's one thing to play hard, commit a hard foul etc. However...Moving up when the shooter takes his shot. This is one of the more dangerous plays in basketball.
The Thunder broadcast said it's a knee sprain. I'm sure if it's serious we'll hear about it by Monday morning (next OKC game is Monday night.)
If he had never been hurt that would have been a bad knee buckle -- that contact could have blown anyone's knee out.
Glass knee, this is not PBev's fault. <iframe class="vine-embed" src="https://vine.co/v/MMOD6BOnaHn/embed/simple" width="600" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe><script async src="//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Also, ouch!! https://vine.co/v/MMOD6BOnaHn
dude needs to stop sticking his knee out, like what on earth leads you to stick your knee out when lowry was on that trajectory and off his feet?
Westbrook wasn't injured on undercutting. Just a freak contact. That ligament probably was worn down already from all his athletic moves. On coming back, WB should modify his game just like DRose has to. Bev is trying to take the charge but when opposing players jump over him, then they'll be undercut. He's too short.
Also, why doesn't WB use a stronger brace? It's not as if he can forever avoid the contact when he's on the court. He came back too soon. That said, I hope we don't meet OKC in the playoffs. Let another team eliminate them.
You are making assumptions based on no substance. WB was hurt by a blow to the knee that had nothing to do with his style of play. Same thing tonight. There are no similarities between how the Rose and WB injuries happened. You are trying to make results fit what you want to believe.
Yes, the Westbrook incident was not an undercutting. But what they are talking about is not that, and it's not about taking charge. Beverley made a couple of dumb 3pt fouls when he jumped into the shooter's space. Since his trajectory was lower than the shooter, the shooter ended up landing partially on Beverley. That created a dangerous situation that could cause serious injuries. It is one thing to aggressively challenge a shot. It is another thing to jump forward to challenge a shot. It's a foul and could cause injury. Beverley is a good on ball defender because of his quickness and his energy. But he needs to improve on his defensive fundamentals.
