I don't know too many scotch lovers that are fond of "midori sours" and "Mojitos".

Y'all should drink more cognac, it a gentleman's drink. A good cognac cocktail is the good old:
KC Tea- Which is Half Cognac half sprite and a lemon wedge squeezed in. If y'all wanna be fancy try it with champagne.

I love a good old-fashioned with a nice bourbon or rye. Bourbon and ginger ale is always good too.

Really, though, my main drink is bourbon and coke. If I'm out, I'll usually call for Wild Turkey 101 or Jim Beam Black. Jack Daniels or Maker's Mark if those aren't available. At home, it's usually with Evan Williams Black. I save my nicer bourbons for cocktails and drinking straight, along with an occasional scotch.

Can't go wrong with maker's mark. When you're at a club with bottle service, there's nothing better than a madras or a vodka redbull.

It's probably some generic blended whiskey like Buchanan's and Chivas

That's the stuff girls drink with Sprit, like they do Remy Martin V.S.O.P.

yes...I've been to many asian weddings.

Interesting, we drink Johnny Walker Blues and Baijiu or Gao Liang at our asian weddings.

    1981. 6th Street.

A friend and I stupidly get into an Amaretto Sour drinking contest. (No, I don't remember why, but it was definitely stupid.) I won with 9.

To this day, Amaretto Sours are my least favorite.

Why JW Blue? Just because it's expensive? Cultural obsession with Johnny Walker? Because I haven't heard of anyone who actually preferred Blue to a top-shelf single malt at almost half the price.

It's a family thing, my grandfather always preferred JW at family dinners so we went with it. But there is a cultural obsession with JW that is pretty evident at karaoke bars and stuff.

LOL at an 11 year old thread bumped now that a new generation is legal to partake.

Right now, mine is Woodford reserve on the rocks, or Lagavullin on the rox....depends upon whether I want fine bourbon or fine scotch whiskey.

    BUMP

Had a great drink at Brenner's that I would like to recreate, and I'd like some input from those more experienced in spirits.

It was an "Old Fashioned" named after Herman, the co-founder, using Bulleit bourbon. It was fantastic. So good that I thought I'd found my new go-to drink.

But, I ordered one at a nice hotel bar this weekend and it was ****.

So for those who have had this drink at Brenner's or know a good way to make one like it, I would appreciate your insight.

When I order an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan, I order it without the maraschino cherry. More bourbon flavor. I'm thirsty.

Most bartenders don't know how to make a proper old fashioned. That said, I personally prefer rye instead of bourbon in my OF.
