Yeah, that's not too surprising. Thuway is more hit and miss than Pete Dodd/Famousmortimer, so I wouldn't always trust what he has to say. But I guess Pete said the same, and as mentioned, this wouldn't be that surprising.

Along similar lines, EA has secured the rights to TF2 according to a Gamespot source:
    http://www.gamespot.com/articles/report-ea-secures-rights-to-titanfall-2/1100-6418404/
If MS wanted to make it exclusive, doesn't look like they can do so by going directly to Respawn.

    And another Final Bosman:
    <div style="background-color:#000000;width:520px;"><div style="padding:4px;"><iframe src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/embed/mgid:arc:video:gametrailers.com:8e60d790-35cb-4be3-8f41-d21222aaec70" width="512" height="288" frameborder="0"></iframe><p style="text-align:left;background-color:#FFFFFF;padding:4px;margin-top:4px;margin-bottom:0px;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;"><b><a href="http://www.gametrailers.com/shows/the-final-bosman">The Final Bosman</a></b></p></div></div>

Seems like PS4 sold ~30K units last week in Japan (depending on your source), just a bit less than the previous week.

edit: I'm going to be controversial and assume that the Sony VR demos are not running on PS4s. :)

Oddly enough, the PS4 camera is selling like crazy:
    http://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps4-camera-severely-supply-constrained/1100-6418411/
~900K sold. This is despite the fact that the camera isn't really all that useful (yet). If the PS4 has no games, the camera has even less.

    (I bought the camera too!)

    More TF2 rumors:
    http://www.polygon.com/2014/3/19/55...deal-for-titanfall-2-sequel-wont-be-microsoft

    Some impressions on Morpheus:
    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=787487
Seems OK and comfortable, but definitely a prototype that needs more polish/tweaking.

    edit: And just saw this

People are using it to stream. I bought mine for $60 and sold it for $75. There's no point in having it right now (I'm not streaming on my PS4 much yet, mostly on PC since I've been playing titanfall). I streamed some nba2k games but *shrug* I'd rather not have people staring at me while I play anyway. I never turned the camera on when I do, just audio.

DX12 presentation at ~12PM (central). Despite earlier reports, I don't really expect much with XBO there, but maybe some of you would be interested (it would be good for PC gaming news).

I didn't mention this yesterday, but seems like UE4 and CryEngine have new(?) pricing models, which make them much cheaper for indie devs (though there are some stipulations, including the fact that UE4 can't be used in this model for consoles). Just the usual kind of cool GDC stuff though, not really strong CONSOLE WARS stuff.

Finally get my internet connected on Monday. Then I'm truly part of next gen gaming. Will get Titanfall and see what it's like. I'm mostly looking forward to renting movies tho.

Some details on the DX12 talk:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/directx/archive/2014/03/20/directx-12.aspx
So yeah, sounds like a reaction to Mantle. They did say XBO would see improvements with DX12, but never actually explained how/why. A lot of the talk was showing how you could utilize PC hardware *like* XBO developers utilize its hardware, using a PC DX12 port of Forza as an example. As with Mantle, it seems a lot of this involved CPU optimizations, so *maybe* XBO can see some improvements there. Though quite frankly, I think those optimizations should have been there already (plus I'm not sure how many XBO games are really CPU bound). Holiday 2015 is what they're targeting for the release of DX12.

    Back to VR (sort of):
    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/kKYr9MaZw3I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I wouldn't get too excited about that (and this stuff isn't even THAT new either). It isn't even using the PS Camera, though they said they might be able to build it into the PS4 VR headset I think.

Eye tracking would be very interesting though. Besides some of innovations it could bring to gameplay, it could allow for some pretty major changes in graphics rendering (i.e., don't have to make pretty graphics for things you're not looking at).

Just more cool GDC stuff that maybe has a 10% of coming out anytime in the next 3-5 years (if ever). Admittedly, now that I'm following some of the technical leaps being made with VR (and other tech), I'm pretty excited about advances in technology for the next few years. We've been debating 60 FPS and 1080p graphics here, and sure, *maybe* some of you don't care about those things. But for VR, those are pretty much bare minimum (1440p or 4K would be preferable, and 90FPS/120FPS might also be preferable).

LOL. Talk about USELESS add-on. PS Fanboys crap all over kinect. However, When Sony shows a eyetracking camera or VR headset that no one will buy because it will cost $300-$400 itself.....they think its the next best thing. Forza and BF4 already use "headtracking" with the kinect. So Sony is showing a demo with eye tracking using a A DIFFERENT Camera than the current one? Talking about something that will not have support because of fragmentation. Don't be surprised if a camera is bundled in the future to try to spur support.

Head-tracking != eye-tracking, and I'm also thinking of what this will mean for the next-generation of games, not necessarily this one. Sony *might* integrate this in their VR headset, but I think it would probably be something that would need to be in VR 2.0 (either with PS5 or something like that). Or perhaps not even with anything directly associated with Sony. OR CV 2.0 or 3.0 maybe. Doesn't really matter.

None of that tech is ready IMO. VR will get a start sometimes in 2015 I guess (with implementations by Sony, Oculus, and I guess Valve), but it won't take off for a while more I think. Same for any sort of eye-tracking. This isn't even about console wars per se. You guys can be excited about it too! :)

(frankly, I think it is potentially more exciting than much of what Kinect has done ;) )

Kids were playing it at Target the other day, and it was too awesome to resist. Going to wait until my son's birthday in May to play it, if we can manage.

...who's saying that in this thread? I haven't been paying super-close attention, but most responses I've seen here have been of the "yeah, so I see they're doing this, but I'm not that excited about it and don't care much yet because it's awhile away from being a finished product" variety.

That's certainly my take on it. Gigantic "meh" for me right now.

That said, I still think whenever true VR can be achieved both comfortably and cost-effectively, its applicability to games would be much easier to see than Kinect, or Sixaxis, or the PS4 touchpad controller, or the WiiU tablet controller. I'm not holding my breath on when that's going to happen though. Which is why I'm not excited about it.

Ignoring is the best policy, debate will get you nowhere. See: other 80 pages of this thread.
