Yeah, still ugly...but not as ugly. Wish they could make them LED signs so that way they can occasionally be used to show something better visually than a billboard. Still would have been better to place them as carts attached to the train.
:roll eyes: Y'all are some whiners. As one of the people who hated the old location of the signs, I think this is a fine spot for 'em. You think these companies are paying a bunch of money to have their names buried somewhere?
the issue is just that. Additional advertising signs to junk up the stadium. Fans didn't want those companies to "pay a bunch of money" to junk up the stadium. Crane tried to pass them off as charity, but it was clearly a dual purpose (charity and $$$ for Crane)
It still sucks balls. It should have been placed in an area where there already is advertising... not clutter up a spot that was once reserved for honoring the divisions/league championships, Kile's 57, and Biggio's 3000'th hit. They could have dedicated individual home game's entire in-between inning promotions/pre and post-games/first pitch/7th inning stretch to one of these companies. They could select the most important/popular games of the year to do this. That would have been something more "meaningful" if you really want to honor these companies. Right now, they're just advertising signs... that look horrible and make me want to boycott the companies.
1. That is the largest picture I have ever seen posted in a thread. 2. This reminded that I hated Pedro Feliz. 3. Cars on the train is a great idea. That would be pretty neat, actually.
Yeah, fixed it for you. MMP is the best Houston sports venue out there... by far. Hell, its the best sports venue in the south. I HATE it when people change it for the worse.
Agreed. I have been to 18 parks so far, and Houston may be the best non historic stadium I have been to thus far.
if i had my choice to either remove these new signs or the "eat mor fowl" i go "eat mor fowl" every time.. the new placement doesnt look as bad as it used to..
I have been to 22 parks. I can't comment on Toronto, Denver, Cincy, Milwaukee, Pittsburg, Milwaukee, Detroit and Tampa Bay. I also haven't been to the New Shea, New Yankee or new parks in Seattle, Philly and Miami. I went to the old stadiums in Arlington and Atlanta too as well as the new ones bringing the total to 24 parks. Out of the ones that I have been to, I'd rank ahead of MMP San Diego San Francisco Minnesota Baltimore Old Yankee Fenway Dodger
I've been to games in Wrigley, the old Comiskey, Fenway, Arlington, Denver, San Francisco, and San Diego. I'd rank Minute Maid right up there with all of those with Fenway (the history is simply amazing) and AT&T getting a slight nod. The others were nice, but Wrigley is a dump, and I absolutely hated that band box to the north of us. Denver was pretty sweet with the Rockies framing the outfield wall. I'm planning on making a trip out to Seattle later this year, so I might catch a game up there just to check out the Mariners' digs.
I'm also factoring in the retratacable roof of MMP allowing all games to occur no matter what the weather. I've borne awful heat in Arlington and St. Louis. I've been excited to go to games in Pittsburgh and Baltimore only to have rain ruin those days. Sure, nothing can beat the picturesque aspect of AT&T park on a perfect day... but if its foggy or windy, it can be damn uncomfortable. And while Fenway and Wrigley are "historic"... there are some overlooked negative aspects to attending the old ballparks (not enough bathrooms, inconsistent concessions, obstructed views, uncomfortably cramped seats).
