the only way to make it work is to lose Lin, Asik and Parsons.

    don't want.

Terrible fit. I'd be surprised if Morey still has interest in Melo now that we have Harden and Howard.
Dollars are better spent on Rondo, Love, or Aldridge.

That's why Dolan convinced Jackson to take the position. Getting a coaching staff to implement whatever "vision" he has for New York going forward (in other words, whatever the heck he told Dolan he's going to do), to keep the Knicks somehow relevant in getting the top free agent players available, by acquiring good picks to either cash in, or use to acquire a target, instead of seemingly tossing them away while making mediocre (or worse) deals), and in hopes of either keeping Melo from leaving, or getting what they can for him that will have the quickest impact on turning that team around. Of course, that's just my opinion. ;-)-

melo would be the best talent available no doubt. but for the money and/or assets in a S&T that Phil would ask, you can probably get 2 borderline stars like Millsap+Conley. would you rather pay melo $18Mil. or 9Mil. each on Millsap & Conley? especially when you're giving up a lot players (Asik, Lin, Jones, Parsons and/or multiple 1st rounders...) and H&H taking up most of the cap, you'd want more bang for the buck on the rest. i say we trade Asik+Jones+NY's 2nd for Millsap+Williams, the extra $$ we take back in Lou Williams' contract would offset Asik's poison pill. and then trade Lin+Parsons or Lin+2 1st picks for Conley+Koufos.

instead of Howard+Melo+Harden and a bunch of scrubs, we could have a very balanced and talented lineup like this:

    Howard, Koufos, Smith
    Millsap, DMo, Covington
    Hamilton, Garcia, Casspi
    Harden, Williams, Daniels
    Conley, Beverley, Canaan

or even give 2 1st picks and keep Parsons

Pretty much agree. Now, does Dolan actually let PJax have control? If not, this this could get interesting.

How's Melo going head to head with Lebron? This game felt like we didn't have any stars in crunch time...

Question - Would it be possible to sign Melo (while paying him well) by only letting go of Asik and keeping Lin if it meant going into luxury tax? I assume Lin will be much harder to trade. And if Rockets did sign Melo, there's no way Parsons stays ..correct?

Now that PJ is in NY, I think there is almost no chance he leaves.

You trade Lin, Asik, and picks for Melo and a bunch of bad contracts - because that's what the knicks really want. Not Lin, not Asik....and not even the picks. It's dumping those contracts on to us (Felton, Shumpert, Smith)

And I say - you do it in a heartbeat. You do it, and then you pay Parsons and your team is set. You have Harden, Bev, Parsons, Howard,a nd you start Melo at the 4. But in reality, you can play Parsons and Melo off of each other. Can you imagine the match-up problems those two would create on the floor together.

Our Bench would be crap but it's not that great now. And T Jones is better suited as a back-up. Dmo becomes the back-up center. If we end up with Shumpert, Felton, and Smith then that's ok. Those are decent bench players.

On the other hand, if I am Phil Jackson, I am going to tell Carmelo - hey, resign with us, and in one year all these guys are gone. With the draft picks of two years, and all that cap space coming in 2015, we'll have a contender going in for the 2015-2016 season.

It all depends on Melo I suppose.

LeBron can't guard Carmelo, Carmelo torches him every time. The reast of the team.....well

For that reason ALONE I want Carmelo, Plus he'll make Lebron work on defense. Nobody on our team can really do that. Carmelo can also post up Lebron when needed.

Morey, Get Carmelo, let the stars come to us. get a 3+d wing in the draft and lets win this title next year

This is not going to happen. Why? Because Melo is not a Morey style player. That goes double for Rondo. Love? Morey will push in all the chips he is willing to risk. Just look at the shot charts.

WTF is a Morey type player? If Melo and Rondo aren't Morey type players than why in the **** is he trying to trade for them.. Nobody knows what Morey is thinking so let's stop pretending we know who he would trade for or not..

And I would trade Asik, Lin, and Parsons for Melo.. I like Parsons, but how do u guys think he would do as the #1.. Melo is a better spot up shooter, more consistant, and causes a lot more attention.. Howard, Harden, and Melo would go to the finals

Not to mention a GREAT trade chip for Durant

You seem to be ignoring the fact that reports (and Clutch) are saying that we are in fact pursuing him.

I'm a fan of Carmelo but a package of Lin, Asik & Parsons would be a no brainer trade.

You could always easily trade Carmelo if it doesn't work out.
