Any chance of a ps4/xbox one version any time soon? I've never played any of the 'Souls' games, and they seem to be critically acclaimed, so I'd like to play it. Only thing is, I sold my PS3 (which I do regret) , but not interested in getting another one.

BTW, I discovered another important gameplay mechanic that the game never explained. You CAN aim spells from a first-person view, but you can only do so by having the binoculars in your off hand. If you do that, you can look through your binoculars with the left trigger, and fire spells with your right. I discover this after six days of playing... yeesh... Also, you don't upgrade your base pyromancy flame to a better one anymore, you just pick up the better one. So don't waste your fire seeds upgrading the weaker one like I'd been doing. Last, I'm finding the high-INT magic in this game rather underwhelming. I ended up respecing and bringing my INT down from 40 to 20, enough to still be able to cast Great Heavy Soul Arrow and use a good catalyst.
Was going to post the same thing. Near the end of the game, just finished Black? Mulch level where you fight some monster that looks like Pudge from Dota.
If memory serves, I finished my first playthrough of Demon Souls at around lvl 60~70, dark souls a little bit higher but still the same lvl range. I'm lvl 106 now in DS2 and only "3 for 4" so to speak...
So.. is there a trick to landing 'combos'? I.e. RB, RB, RB, RL leading to a chain of attacks that minimize the cooldown of the next attack. Seems like different weapons have different combinations and attack types. I should probably start with more experimentation.
Another FYI -- I have now discovered one area that has infinitely respawning enemies. It's around the first bonfire in Drangleic Castle, there are these stone knights in the next room that just don't seem to despawn. There's six of them, and with the Covetous Serpent Ring+1 I get 420 souls apiece, or 2,520 per "run." Since they are easy to kill (they start off in a kneeling position until you approach), die in three hits, and have a bonfire right next to them, one "run" takes probably 45 seconds. Not great, there were way better farming spots in the other Souls games, but it's good to know this exists. Removes some of the angst of losing a bloodstain with a lot of souls because you know you can just grind them out again if needed.
All you need is the Giant Stone Axe's godlike 2h roll attack animation. It's the same overpowered animation from Demon Souls great axe and meatcleaver
My farming ground is Iron Keep, second bonfire. I place a summon soap there and we'll breeze through to the boss in 5-10 mins and I'll get about 20k souls. Another good spot is the area before you fight the Kings Vanguard (forgot his name), but it takes more work because you have to run past a few enemies to get there. I'm at Dragons Shrine and it's horrible. I think I got near the boss once, but died. Won't be able to finish the game till the end of the week when I come back from going out of town =/
I place a summon soap at the lock away bonfire in Huntsman cope. Someone summons me and we do a run through to Undead Purgatory Boss. Net about 17K souls.
Such a noob, but I'm catching on. I watched the 40min YT video on how to play. I had no idea that my max health was being capped every time I died... Turned the game on and took note of my 50% health -.- I had about 5 Human Effigies in my inventory so nbd, but I'm assuming these are somewhat rare. Is the warrior class capable of learning spells/miracles?
Yep, starting class really doesn't matter too much, any class can use anything as long as they have the stats for it. I'd personally recommend either having enough Dex for a good bow, or knowing at least a little magic even if you're primarily melee. Having some ranged options really helps in certain portions of the game when there are lots of spellcasters who fire hard-to-avoid projectiles, not to mention there are some bosses that are pretty cake if you've got ranged attacks. If you go the Bow route, 20 Dex should be enough to use a decent bow, then you just need to buy the arrows. For miracles, 22 Faith and a Talisman will allow you to chuck lightning bolts. For sorcery, 16 Intelligence and a catalyst/staff will allow you to cast Great Heavy Soul Arrow. After that, just put some points in Attunement to give yourself some spell slots (1 at 10 ATT, 2 at 13, 3 at 16, 4 at 20, 5 at 25, 6 at 30, you can get 10 slots but I wouldn't invest more than 30 pts in Attunement), and away you go. Don't forget that you can put the binoculars in your off hand to snipe with magic. FWIW, I prefer miracles to sorcery this time around.
Yes. but you need Attunement slots to put the spells in. And you need the requisite Faith/Intelligence level for whatever spell you wanna cast. Also, the higher you level the higher the level of phantom that can help during boss fights or invade. Example, if you're a level 90 only players around that level will you be able to summon. And if you join an invading covenant you'll only be able to invade players around your level.
Just beat the Ruin Sentinals... I'm mostly glued to this game because every time I die, I feel like it was due to a mistake. Everything seems beatable up to this point, except for a couple of exceptions. The Sentinals were pretty predictable but it was all about sequence of events for me. Wish I had known about the Illusory walls first. New to DS series and already lovin it.
I didn't realize about the walls until after the fight, either. I wondered in retrospect if they would have helped or not. Going into one may have just led to them ganging up on me in a small space. I'm on to NG+ now. They definitely add new enemies into the mix. You actually get ambushed by a new enemy type right at the beginning, even before you reach the witches' hut. I'm running a FTH-STR build. Fully upgraded Havel's Greatshield is a wonderful thing to have. Main weapon is a dark-infused ultra greatsword, and then I've got lots of lightning bolts to chuck at people. Because my greatshield and weapon are so heavy, I'm wearing light armor to stay below 70% equip load and keep a quick roll.
Im at the iron keep. I have two great souls. Sinner and spider. The bosses don't seem as hard in this game. Maybr im a better player though.
I'm not so sure either. You'd have to experiment a few times to find anything beneficial... Can't remember if you could access the opposite ledge from the get-go or not. NG+, nice.. Can't imagine the added frustration. Sounds like a solid setup. I found a full set of Drangleic armor after beating the second boss on a ledge you had to jump down to. Was a huge upgrade over my previous setup but I now lack a quick roll. I did finally familiarize myself with using the shield - works wonders against bosses. I suppose the good thing about being a newb is that I learn something new every day about the combat system.
I'm assuming those are from the bosses... I've been saving mine as well. I hear there are certain NPCs who will trade loot for them? Hope it's worth it!
Yeah, there are two NPCs who trade boss souls for weapons and/or spells. Some boss souls have only one use, while others can be traded for as many as five different things. It's worth noting that I'm not actually using any of the equipment/magic that I traded boss souls for. For instance, the weapon I'm using is just a normal ultra greatsword that I've upgraded with regular titanite and then infused. It's actually more powerful than one of the ultra greatswords I got from a boss soul (although some of these have some neat special attacks). Nonetheless, that stuff is fun to experiment with. Some of them have cool effects, like a sword that pierces shields, or another weapon that slows the enemy on hit.
