a shame he didn't blow people away but then again, he was/has never been a flashy type of guy..he's never really wowed me but it's hard to argue his performance at the end of the day. I don't think the pro-day means squat on his ability to play in the nfl but I am curious what went wrong. Bad throwing day? The guy is obviously accurate...he has 3 years of games to prove that. His 40 time was/is decent although I'm a little surprised he wasn't a little lower in the 4.7s but still, that's not a big deal. His weight...whatevs...he is around 210 at 21. He will easily end up in the high 210, low 220s over the next few years based on natural body maturity. Think Warren Moon.
Herm Edwards has put the Bridgewater pro comparison back to being a less athletic Alex Smith as opposed to the people who were calling him the next Aaron Rodgers or Joe Montana last week.
I believe the term project more refers to a player with a ton of potential that hasn't been molded or refined yet. I think Teddy has limited potential that has already been well refined so I don't consider him a project. More of a player with a limited ceiling that may not deserve to be so high. He's not dropping to the 2nd round btw.
I don't understand people knocking him on his 40 time. The guy is a pocket passer with some scrambling ability. Nothing else. He doesn't need to run a 4.5, although I expected high 4.6's, it's not a big deal. Bortles is labeled "elusive" and he is much slower. Bortles may have a faster 3 cone time, but Teddy showed time and time again that he can climb the pocket and move around and has great awareness within the pocket. I've said it before, that Teddy would have the greatest pocket awareness of any quarterback for us in franchise history, immediately. His inaccuracy is another thing, though. As others have said, though, I tend to believe tape more, although today isn't exactly a confidence booster.
I still think teddy is the best qb in this class. But after today I do not think he is worthy of being a number one pick. As of right now, none of the qbs are worth a top 10 pick. Teddy better hope he can do well in private workouts with teams to bring his draft stock back up.

Vikings fans must be ecstatic at this point. Anyways, what the hell makes a top of the 1st round qb different than a mid-late 1st round qb? You think the teams that passed on Aaron Rodgers or Ben Rothlisberger would like to have a do-over on their drafts? In the end it all comes down to evaluation. If you think he can be your franchise QB you take him, no matter what pick it's at.
You jumped the shark Tank there. This is just straight up ludicrous and shows me you do not know what you say. Teddy Bridgewater is under pressure almost twice as much as Bortles in almost any game. Louisville's O-Line is at least a tier below UCF's. Teddy Bridgewater handled pressure better than any QB in college last year and Bortles mostly struggled under pressure. All you have to do Remii, is watch any game and watch when the defense gets close to Bortles and see how he handles it. He does not handle it well. I repeat watch one game and look at how many times he is pressured and how many completions. Don't count the controlled the short screens that the O-Line allows and it's even worse. Bortles throws 45% of his passes in the under 10 yard range. 22% of his passes are screens. That's double of what Teddy does, more than twice what he throws. Who's the controlled offense guy padding his stats now. I asked you before to stop comparing apples to oranges a while back and compare their common opponents. They both played USF in that game Teddy Bridgewater goes 25-29, 3tds, 0 ints, 344 yds, qbr 95 and they win 34-3. Blake Bortles goes 17-26, 2tds and throws 2 ints, 219 yds and a 29 qbr. and they barely win 23-20. What's your argument there. Bortles almost lost that game to South Florida who only won 2 games all season. Wow against 2-9 USF Bortles was losing in the second half and pulled it out late in the 4th. Bridgewater kicked their butts early and never looked back. Why Remii... was the competition better that week. Watch the game and you'll see what I saw. USF managed a little pressure on Bortles and he got rattled. So yeah Bortles will outperform Teddy at his pro day and he has the size but if you think he is better than Bridgewater you are delusional. You use to be smart enough to admit he wasn't. Now you are lost. Bortles didn't get better this off season and Bridgewater dropped off. Bridgewater is who is. A guy who isn't going to Wow you with his deep ball or amazing velocity. He didn't do that much in college although I did see him more than once throw it 60+ yards downfield on the run. Bridgewater does more with Less. He is a winner. Maybe he won't cut it in the NFL. Maybe his size is not enough but from what I can see he is the clear choice at QB and anyone else is a drop off. His pro day didn't change that. If the Texans trade down or draft defense first I'm okay with that. But saying Bridgewater is the project over Bortles is just dumb.
At this point, Im more than comfortable finding a trading partner ...Cleveland would be great, I'll happily drop to 4 and pick up their other first rounder if we can get them to want to jump to #1.
Why would they? If Bridgewater is that good why would let him go and if he is not why would the Browns take him. You may consider them stupid but they saw the combine pro day like everyone else. It takes someone with more smarts and vision to look pass that not less. Besides the Browns have already claimed interest in Manziel. Could be smokescreen but Bridgewater's stock has dropped which means he should too and likely be there for the taking.
Excellent assessment... No argument there. But we'll see about that 2nd round. Last year people were positive Geno would go in the 1st.
You keep over looking the fact that Teddy had a top ranked defense with NFL talent and was in a lot of blow outs wins with the help of Louisville's defense. And Louisville's receivers weren't garbage (compared to the competition they faced). Blake is the guy who did more with less. Look at all the close games he was in. And Blake has gotten better this off season. Reports are he was excellent at the combine (mechanics) throwing to receivers he wasn't familiar with. He said he was working 12 hour days 6 days a week. Teddy must have been working more on bulking up and less on his throwing. But we'll see how Blake does on his pro day...

^^ Gil, on your last "point", Bridgewater played in the AAC. Not the SEC or Big XII like the others. kinda important...
I see the point you are trying to make but it sounds like you are reaching and not really looking at film. If Bortles is better than Bridgewater it happened after the season and not before and you can't trust it. You can't trust anything you don't see in a live game and you can't trust most of that. I've read this from several scouts and it's what I use in analyzing QBs. Watch what they do in the brightest lights on the biggest stage. In lieu of that watch what they do in big games and then at the end of close games and then in 3rd down situations. Teddy steps up more than anyone in college in those situations. The other thing he does better anyone is read the blitz and act under pressure. He is better than Bortles, Manziel Winston, Mariota, everyone and it's not even close. He has better pocket presence. Here is what today showed me... he is not accurate long. I already knew that but I'd hoped he had improved like he said but he hasn't. No excuses there he did exactly what he's done in his career. He can throw the ball 65+ yards but he can't throw it accurately. I don't understand how he could overthrow his own recievers knowing he was watched. So I conclude that is an issue that may not be fixed. He also showed me he doesn't put a lot of zip on the ball. I thought he would have wanted to show that as I've seen him put zip on the ball when necessary in the season. The other thing that didn't change was his accuracy within 20 yards. really some will have success no matter what they've shown before and some won't. So basically he displayed who we already knew he was today. He completed a higher percentage than he does in real games. But on pro day anything less than 95% is a fail... so he failed. Bortles has already outperformed Teddy throwing at the combine. I expect him to do just as good if not better at his pro day on wednesday. But what it won't show you is how he only works half the field. How when his first target isn't open he falls apart or how his lower body mechanis fall apart on pressure. I'm not saying he doesn't have his moments under pressure but they are more flashes. Maybe the negatives have piled up against TB. Maybe he is more of a risk than you want at QB but at no point did Bortles pass him up unless you consider size and the combine more important than the game film. If that's the case than Logan is your man and Bortles is a distant second.
Seriously though, has anyone seen endoftheworld? He was pretty much high priest of the Teddy religion. I wouldn't have thought he'd disappear on Teddy's pro day.
