Rudy T inspired the Rockets, pretty much the same team to greatness
The players believed in the system and more importantly each other

Charlie Strong will inspire his players to become teammates and brothers and fight for each other like the Rockets did in 94

    Believe

Beer and wine sales to begin Friday at select UT Athletics sports events

"This trial will be in effect this spring for all remaining men's and women's basketball, softball and baseball games, and the fan fest area at the Texas Relays," said UT Men's Athletics Director Steve Patterson.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Public beer and wine sales at select UT Athletics spring sports events will begin tomorrow at Red & Charline McCombs Field when Texas Softball hosts the Texas Invitational.

"This trial will be in effect this spring for all remaining men's and women's basketball, softball and baseball games, and the fan fest area at the Texas Relays," said UT Men's Athletics Director Steve Patterson. "We could look into expanding it for other sports events next fall provided the outcome of the trial is positive."

At the conclusion of the 2014 spring sports seasons, UT Athletics, UT Police, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and UT Athletics concessionaire Sodexo Sports and Leisure will evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the trial to determine if alcohol should be sold at other sporting events. The evaluation will include information from UTPD and the TABC to ensure there has been no adverse community impact.

The beer and wine trial will not include the spring football game on April 19 at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.

This has always been on the radar. They've rebuilt the North and East sides in the last 10 years. The issue isn't really if but rather then when. The bigger focus is the new basketball arena. The city and UT (reportedly) are looking to build a massive arena with club seating and suites. They would like to build it just south of the lake (downtown) on south congress. The Austin American Statesman is sitting on land that is worth WAYYY more than their dying business. Also possibly looking into East 35 from Campus and the new Muller (former airport) area.

It won't be at Mueller. The master plan is already half way complete and there isn't any more room for a massive arena.

Yeah I saw that Patterson is looking at someplace near Town Lake. It's hard enough to get students to trek over a few blocks to the FEC. Imagine what an off-campus basketball arena will do to student attendance.

I don't think trying to get students to attend games is the biggest priority. Hopefully, it would just be a hop on the train. I would be more likely to go to a game if the arena was off campus.

Students have never been a priority for Bellmont. If this happens, whatever minor home court advantage we had will disappear.

Yes, Akina produced some really good DBs, but he also underachieved at times with the talent that he had. UT's secondary had the potential to be the best in the country every year, but to me, the team was not coached to its ability. Too many fundamental errors like missed tackles. One example of this would be the BYU game.

Another example of god like expectations from Texas fans. I don't know how you can say that he underachieved when the guys that he coached were ranked so highly. They were ranked that high because they played really well.

    Good lord.
