He needs to let Jeremy play through his mistakes and find rhythm! He only got 25:30 minutes, and from reliable sources, Linsanity happens at the 30 minute mark. Also, insufficient picks and screens. Without 1 or 2 per play, the ball gets low on air and he has to pick it up and look around for an air pump.
Has anyone noticed that Lin plays his best when we're behind and not ahead? Seems to me being behind takes the pressure off and he actually is more aggressive. But in tight games or when we have the lead he tends to freeze up a bit.
Very much so. Noticed this quite a bit for the Rockets, more so ever since he came off the bench (that he play his best trying to come back from a deficit) but he has always been like this all the way back 2 seasons ago when he tried out for the Rockets (I still remember that game against San Antonio when he almost lead the comeback against them in a preseason game late in the 4th). This year, as a bench player, when the starters get a lead, you put Lin in and he seems to play to not make mistakes and end up playing passively. When team is trailing, he seems to play with nothing to lose and is more aggressive. As a bench player, he really should learn to play with one and only one speed - full aggressiveness. He seems to worry too much out there. I have said before that when you are leading in the 4th, play Bev to protect the lead. As a rule of thumb, when you are trailing, probably a good time to play Lin as he does have the capability to help bring you back.
Not always true - Lin did hit a few clutch shows in the win over Portland where the game was close. but I have to agree he should be aggressive all the time. what is he afraid of? mchale? o.o
Lin plays well in a blow out against Chicago and disappears like a mental midget against Miami Trade him to a tanking team and everyone will be happy. Lin can get his big numbers to keep the LOF's happy while the team would inevitably end up being one of the worst teams in the league. Rockets can get rid of this bloated, overpaid contract. If only there were takers...
Portland lead all the way until late in the 4th. Like I said, if you need a comeback, as a rule of thumb, Lin should be in there. I don't know what he's afraid of. It's in his head and I cannot read mind. External factor or not, he wants to get over that, he got to look inside himself. (if i have to guess, no, he's not afraid of McHale, he's afraid of failing... when there is no lead, he can't fail... he starters already lost it... when there is a lead, he certainly can screw things up :grin: ).
Sigh. Isn't it obvious why McHale put Lin in? The answer is simply because that is what the statistics say is the best route to a win. One does not work for Morey and not know which lineup is best in a certain situation. Lin has been very good in the fourth quarter this season.
It's up to a coach to be flexible. Stats are great...but when you see a guy playing passively/timidly in those minutes, it's time for him to come out.
Everytime we lose it's always Lin we talk about? We should be talking about what everyone did wrong should we not? Why do we need a thread about what Lin did wrong?
how do you explain him as a starter last year? he played reasonably well. or on the knicks even. lead or not he still played alright. just recently of late, his mindset has changed. i mean i cant really blame him with the kind of changes he had to adjust to, lol it's one giant mindfk for him. still has to man up though. it could be that lin just needs to get into rhythm first and needs a couple of shots to drop. some players are like that. (still not an excuse - but just pointing out a possibility)
