In my eyes, there's really no difference between 720p and 1080p. I saw a Forza 5 demo at Best Buy and it looks just as good as any 1080p PS4 game.

It does look pretty good. I'd be pretty interested in seeing the tech analysis breakdown. It seems to be a pretty solid 30 FPS in the videos I've seen, though hopefully it stays that way throughout the game. I do really like the IQ and use of color in the game. I could nitpick about some things, but considering Sucker Punch isn't even THAT well known for good visuals (or hasn't been), this is pretty good.

I never could tell the difference between football and basketball. I watched the Pacers-Pistons game earlier today, and it looked just like the Rockets-Bulls game. [/jerk]

Forza is also 1080p, so unless you meant something else with that example, I'm not sure it really illustrates your point.

Though Forza does have some IQ issues (IMO), despite being 1080p. That kind of illustrates the point that resolution is just one factor of IQ (albeit a large one), and of course resolution is just one factor in overall visuals.

I think there's a pretty substantial difference between between 720p and 1080p (all else equal), especially on a 1080p display. But depending on the game and how the developer spends their resources (perhaps using a technique like GG did with KZ MP), it isn't necessarily the #1 thing I'd worry about.

I thought that was sick when it happened. I was like whaaaaaat?
One of the games I'm most excited about, I'm guessing it won't be out until 2015 though.

Lol, I don't think you understand. Forza is 1080p first off, secondly there is a definitely a noticeable difference between the two. (the resolutions that is)

The Watch Dogs gif a few posts above shows the massive downgrade from the reveal trailer to now. Watch Dogs definitely seems a generation behind in terms of visuals when comparing to Second Son.

As far as The Division, it looks amazing. Hopefully not having to cater to the PS3/X360 will help it maintain the look of the reveal trailer, but I'm not holding my breath. Ubisoft is notorious for getting people hyped with beautiful "in-game" trailers only to follow up with massive downgrades. If The Division receives no such downgrade, I'll agree with you. Till then Second Son will hold the best graphics card. Watch Dogs doesn't even compare.

Ubisoft showed Watch Dogs off too early. Maybe The Division too. Watch Dogs is also on PS3/360, so maybe they had to take some hits to make their game cross-platform. Or something. I'm not really sure what's going on with that game.

The Division is pretty far off though. Even if it doesn't look better than Infamous, I would not be surprised if another open world game comes out before then that looks better. Maybe Batman or something.

    Random article:
    http://games.yahoo.com/news/xbox-owners-deserting-microsoft-consoles-playstation-4-174504783.html

Also, random video game info. I found out today that the Okami HD port for PS3 actually renders the game (internally) at 4K.

    That's pretty awesome.

    PS3 > PS4 >= XBO >= 360 >= Xbox >= PS2 >= The computers Titanfall was developed on.

The first gameplay video was running on PC which was just confirmed a week ago. The later videos were on PS4 and possibly PS3. Showing superior graphics on PC is what did them in because it showed how crappy the graphics were compared to its PC counterpart.

I will still get the game but the downgrade is a bummer considering I was waiting to get a ps4 to play Watch Dogs. I feel like I could just buy the game on PS3 if the graphics aren't that different, but I will probably still buy a PS4 for it, I'm going to get one eventually.

Yeah, that was kind of my point. Ubisoft rushed them to get something out there to show (and look nice). To be honest, I'm not even sure it would have looked that nice, even if it was PC exclusive (well...it could have, but unless they were just going to target i7s+Titan+16GB systems only).

You obviously haven't played Witcher 2 on PC.

    Nope, definitely not...

I'm not saying it COULDN'T be like that. But I'd expect Ubisoft might down the requirements some, essentially to PS4 levels (or actually likely a lot lower). Depending on those requirements, they might ditch certain things in the game that wouldn't scale well across different configurations.

It was more of an off comment, basically pointing out that Ubisoft likely put together a demo on high-end hardware, just to show off a game vs actually putting together a demo from a game.

Games like Metro and Witcher brings high-end setups to their knees. The great thing about PC games is that you can develop for high end hardware and not be limited because the consumers can always scale down the graphics to their choosing and performance perference. Witcher 2's high end settings with Ubersampling would kill even a Titan for sure but that doesn't mean they need to remove it. If the game is cable of doing what the developers want, then I don't see why it should be toned down on the PC version.

Keep in mind that a game that brings a system to its knees doesn't mean much if it isn't particularly well optimized (Titanfall is causing some systems to struggle, despite looking like a PS3/360 game). Though I somewhat agree with you on this general point.

I think what you are missing is that SOME things don't scale. Textures, resolution, AA, etc. Those scale. Other things do not (or are at least much more difficult to scale). For example, UE4 dropped SVOGI due to the fact it was simply too expensive for consoles (and most PCs).

I need to rewatch the original Watch Dogs reveal, but if they were doing things like dynamic lighting (all over the place), they might have had to ditch that and go with more pre-baked lighting so it would perform well on lower end systems (and consoles). Just an example, but that's more or less what I mean. Some rendering effects are difficult to scale, and if you want your game to run on consoles and/or low-to-mid range PCs, you might have to ditch those effects.

Maybe first good indication of how TF's release has affect sales:
    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...oosts-xbox-one-sales-by-96-per-cent-in-the-uk
Without really knowing how much it sold in previous weeks, it is hard to conclude much, but it is always good news to see sales go up 96%. :)

On a side-note about Titanfall, I didn't realize servers they put up in Australia are a "custom-solution." I assumed MS was just able to expand their Azure network. I'm not even sure it is "Azure servers" (though I guess it could sort of be...though it could also be "regular" servers). Probably won't find out more, but of course with all the CLOUD! marketing, I can't help but be curious how this worked (did it turn out that TF worked well without Azure?).
